Nearly 15 month olds first proper word that he knows was ball, and dang does he love playing with balls, throwing, holding, passing back and forth to us but he will say ball alot he learnt to say it around 2 and a half months ago but is very confident saying it in the last 2 weeks. he does say it in context for the most part and 1000 percent knows what it is but Is it a bad sign that he just says one word over and over? or is that normal while learnung?i1

He has other words, cah for car, vroom vroom, duh for dog that he says when prompted or if he sees specific pictures but he will say ball unprompted. He just be loving hes balls

That makes me feel so relieved and happy, thank you

Hes just a car boy in a car world.

I guess it makes sense that they learnt this new word and they like the object and they get to say the objects name and people know what they mean when they say it, how cool is that.

Online just be scaring me

O to be a kid again 🥰

Hiya, OP . . . you seem really concerned about your little DS . . . I've seen your other thread where you express your concerns about him not talking to other people

He really is very young and most parents have concerns about some aspect of their babies/toddlers development which rarely become an issue later on . . . there's such a wide age range in development.

In our family we found that the girls used to be quicker with their speech whereas the boys were quicker with their physical development. I realise that this is a massive generalisation but you might find that your little boy is working away at one area of his development and will develop his speech a bit later on

HTH

15 months is still tiny OP, he’s doing really well by the sounds of it. My 17 month old can say the odd ‘word’, but he’s mainly babbling away in his own language. All ranges of normal, try not to worry but do speak to a health visitor if you’re concerned in a few months time 🙂

Have a look at Dan Wuori on Twitter. He’s a child development expert and his account is lovely - lots of kids all developing at their own pace and he explains how amazing their learning is. It’s a reassuring and lovely account.

Yep completely normal. My 2yo (she’ll be 2 in Jan) was the same around that age with the word ‘that’ it was constant, on repeat for literally, months. Even now, any new word she learns it’s on repeat for a while. For example, we went to the farm today to see animals and all day/night long she’s been saying animals!! Well, ‘anmals’ but close enough and super cute! Don’t stress at all!
