Matching Christmas pyjamas

Aibu to think that the matching pyjamas trend is ridiculous?

It gives me the ick. So many photos online of families all in matching pjs.

Perhaps I’m just old and miserable, it wasn’t a thing when my dc were small.

Ah it’s just a bit of fun. If you don’t like it don’t do it, simple. Doesn’t affect you if other people chose it.

PistachioTiramisu · 27/12/2025 18:06

Quite agree - it's awful. You dress UP on Christmas Day not descending to the lowest common denominator.

I know I know, it is just a bit of fun.

I just can’t imagine why you’d want to wear matching pyjamas with your family and then post if online. I can just about understand dressing little kids in matching pyjamas.

I always imagine the men and teens must have been really talked into it because I can’t imagine my dh or teenagers being seen dead in matching pyjamas.

We often have family christmas pyjamas, not every year but the majority of years. My DH and teens have no issue with it. I always had christmas eve pyjamas as a child so it is just normal for me,although as a child they did not match asit was not a thing then but they were all usually the same theme.

We have them. We didn’t wear them on Christmas Day… we wore them through December. My three year old chose them, he loves to match his baby sister and found us all matching great fun.

Eneryone got dressed on Christmas Day, like any other day…

NewYearNewMee · 27/12/2025 18:40

I love them for Christmas Eve and cosy film watching, I don’t take photos in them to post online but I enjoy wearing them. I bloody love a good pair of PJs!

Says who?! One of the great joys of this Christmas has been slobbing around in my Christmas pyjamas. (Non-matching if that makes you feel any better Grin)

Pricelessadvice · 27/12/2025 18:41

I’m quite happy for people to do it… but I don’t want their stupidly posed photo on social media of it. The dad always looks ridiculous 😂

BillyBites · 27/12/2025 18:42

There is no way on this planet that I would be able to get my husband on board with this (even if I wanted it myself). We have two adult dc who love Christmas and get in the mood but whilst dd would be up for it, ds most certainly would not.

The view must be fantastic from up there on your high horse!

worcesterpear · 27/12/2025 18:44

I don't do social media so haven't seen photos, but I assumed this is what they were invented for. Although, I can see the appeal of doing it for the children, especially if there are big age gaps between them and it's normally hard to get matching clothes in the same sizes. No photos though and definitely no parents wearing the same!

TheLostMonopolyTopHat · 27/12/2025 18:44

If they were cotton and lasted more than a few washes (and the children stayed the same size) I’d say YABU but they’re plastic, people buy new every year and the quality is appalling. Wasteful tat crap. YANBU.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 27/12/2025 18:45

This definitely falls into the “live and let live” car, so YABU.

The only thing I think is that I hope they aren’t just worn for one day, as that’s wasteful

FancyBiscuitsLevel · 27/12/2025 18:49

As kids we always had new PJs on Christmas Eve, after the year where the photos came back of us opening gifts on Christmas morning in old tatty PJs.

Christmas Eve PJs were exciting in themselves and helped our dcs want to get ready for bed on what is a very exciting evening. Then lockdown happened and dc2 asked if we could all get matching so it’s a thing now. Christmas Eve, we have a takeaway for dinner, afterwards we all get our matching PJs on and then watch some Christmas TV, then they go to bed and I do stockings and at least the following morning if we have footage of gifts being opened, everyone looks half decent.

cocobanana922 · 27/12/2025 18:52

I've got no issues if people want to wear matching pjs....my issue is those who only do it to post online.

CandiedPrincess · 27/12/2025 18:56

I don't really mind what others do. I wouldn't do it, because it seems like a gross waste of money but if others want to do it, that's up to them, but it really does feel like it's just for the 'gram.

What a horrible pretentious attitude. People should do whatever works for them. Some of us actually work Christmas and priorities comfort. And no I don’t do matching pyjamas but I don’t care if others do.

Berlinlover · 27/12/2025 19:06

If my partner wore Christmas pyjamas I honestly believe I’d never be able to have sex with him again.

Says who? People can do what they like. What an awful snobby post.

tigger1001 · 27/12/2025 19:55

It's not for me, but it really is an each to their own thing. If someone gets joy out of it, then why not?

CF, I bought my cotton Christmas pyjamas in the sale last year and wore them all year and they are still going,

Purpleberet · 27/12/2025 20:29

I can’t help cringe when I see anyone dressed matching - his & hers, or kids dressed the same 🙈 I don’t know why it makes me feel like that! but if that’s what people want to do then so be it

I’m sure I do a ton of things that make other people cringe 😆
