Hi,

I’ve logged on to catch up on anything I may have missed and have seen lots of sad/miserable/over the top dramatic responses to trivial things and thought oh my did I forget the memo to not enjoy Christmas?

I understand people have different things happening in their lives and people are dealing with grief, money troubles/struggles due to COL (myself too with this one) and I just wanted to see if anyone else actually enjoyed their Christmas?

I am a single mother to 3, (9,2,1)
I saved up all year so I could spoil them (not the overboard sh** you see on social media but a good 18-25 presents each (not the 1 year old she hasn’t a clue what’s happening she got about 10). We got up enjoyed the magic of Santa having been, got them dressed up in lovely outfits, went to my DM & DF shared gifts, ate a lovely roast had some pudding, played a pass the pudding I picked up from Asda opposed to crackers, not at all worth it lol.
came home to an absolute mess, cleaned it all up today (put the tree away for space purposes, kids helped) played with all the new toys. They’re all in bed, I had a take away and I’ve just thoroughly enjoyed being in the little Christmas bubble.
I realise my parents are getting older, I don’t know how many Christmas’ we have left to spend together so I try to make fond memories.

so AIBU or more to the point am I the odd one out for feeling Christmassy and enjoying it or did any of you also enjoy it?

I get people are upset and offended by things people do to them but I must say I’ve had a laugh at some of the posts tonight, rages about titles on Christmas cards etc I just think life is so so short and we only get one, is it not better to enjoy it or try to?

if you read this I wish you a very happy New Year, blessings upon blessings and health for you and your families x

I've had a lovely time as well. Let's enjoy it

I think most of us had a lovely time, it's just the people who are upset about something that post it to get advice (or complain)

So glad you had a lovely time, OP. I had a wonderful time too. We stayed in, ate what we wanted, nice gifts, funny games and absolutely no pressure. Perfect! My kids laid in until 9.30am today, that’s been my favourite Christmas treat lol.

after a share of traumas this year including 3 family deaths including my dear dad, we had a lovely Christmas. Mum came to me for dinner and stayed for hours longer than I'd expected. My sister and her family came too so 10 adults in all for dinner. Everyone got fed, had a few little fun pressies each and lots of laughs. Life is way too short for worrying or getting upset about names on cards, who took an extra pie before everyone else. We didn't worry about the gravy which refused to set, the sprouts which got burnt staying warm in the oven, my mother's card which went missing even though all my sisters got theirs. A nice relaxed get together overall
