How long until you’ll need to get food again?

I got enough for what I thought would last four days maybe as I don’t want to step foot inside another shop for a while!
Dh has messed up my food challenge by using all the milk for constant coffees (I bought so much milk)
Yesterday was xmas dinner obviously, today ham, tomorrow-leftovers and remains of cheese and biscuits and Sunday more leftovers and I have some nachos that i’ll do with cheese, salsa etc. Monday I’ll probably need to stock up

Sunday (because I’ll have been away for a week!)

Chinsupmeloves · 26/12/2025 19:20

If we frozen everything, enough for January! We have a lot of birthdays either side of Christmas so extra food, too much really.

Oneborneverydecade · 26/12/2025 19:20

My DH spent almost £300 at Waitrose on Monday and tells me he needs to go again tomorrow because we don't have any meals left. We're 3 adults, 1 teen, 1 younger. We ate at my in laws today 🤷🏻‍♀️ WTF

CrikeyMajikey · 26/12/2025 19:21

2027

Notmyreality · 26/12/2025 19:21

Just come back from co op (which was fully stocked). Sorry why, are we supposed to stock up? Are we in 1985?

Nucleus · 26/12/2025 19:24

No clue. DH is in charge of meals.

Yutr · 26/12/2025 19:26

Got a click and collect booked for tomorrow

Tomorrow, because we don't eat Xmas dinner (so no leftovers), and I just bought what I needed for the week, as always.
We do have a surplus of cheese tho, so that's not on the list!).

SkankingWombat · 26/12/2025 19:30

We'll need to go for bread, milk and a few bits of fruit and veg in a couple of days, but otherwise we're good for the next week. We did our last big shop on 20th but I'd put away plenty in the cupboards and freezer over the last few months and are still well stocked.

Facelikeaslappedbum · 26/12/2025 19:27

What?

I think I was quite clear. Not since the 80s/early 90s have we really required to stock up for the Xmas period as the shops only close on Xmas day itself. Many of the people “stocking up” for Xmas do it more out of habit and fear than out of necessity.

I wasn’t talking about having to stock up, Ive been to the shop daily for weeks in the build up to Christmas and want a break from it, that’s all
Why answer like that in such a snotty way? Hope all is ok for you & merry Christmas

Monday or Tuesday. We definitely have enough for the weekend but we don't have a deep freeze or a large fridge so once we've eaten the bulky stuff (leftover turkey, trifle, pork pie) we won't have much in there that actually makes up into meals. We'll be running low on bread by then as well, although I think I've got some part baked baguettes in the pantry that don't quite qualify for Antiques Roadshow yet...

JaceLancs · 26/12/2025 19:38

6th January will be our next proper food shop
Before then just bread milk and some veg/salad

Ignore the posters who have nothing else to do other than go shopping every day over the Christmas break, and can't grasp why the rest of us might choose to fill our time in more fun, interesting and constructive ways. Having a fridge/freezer/cupboardful means we can all do exactly that 😀👍

raspberrieswithchocolate · 26/12/2025 19:48

I won't need to buy food until January comes around

PluckyChancer · 26/12/2025 19:58

Tomorrow. We ate leftovers today.

AnnaQuayInTheUk · 26/12/2025 22:00

We've been at my Mum's for Christmas. Home tomorrow and we have a Tesco order coming on Sunday. We've got very little in the fridge at home so will have to buy milk and bread on the way home.

My mum has enough food here to last the rest of the weekend and into next week. No doubt we will have some pressed upon us when we leave tomorrow.

daffodilandtulip · 26/12/2025 22:06

We've got enough chocolate and cheese for about nine years, but I'll need to fetch milk tomorrow.

Fiftyandme · 26/12/2025 22:17

Except for bread/milk I reckon at least two weeks

ITSSSSCHRISTMASSS · 26/12/2025 22:18

I want DH to go to Aldi tomorrow to get the crackers I like as I didn’t get a chance to go before Christmas, pure want not need. We will probably need bread and manybe some fresh bits like salad. Other than that we are good till new year. I always keep a couple of cartons of long life milk as a back up (Thanks Nan!).

OttersMayHaveShifted · 26/12/2025 22:19

The 28th. We will have been away staying with family from the 23rd, so there will be no food, milk etc in our house when we get home!

Fridgemanageress · 26/12/2025 22:32

Milk, bananas, custard powder, butter, yoghurt but actual dinners the amount of stuff we have in the freezer should last us a few weeks.

We are going to clear the freezer out now as there is chicken, beef, a few reduced pies, lots of frozen veg, so with the fresh veg we have….

NoSoupForU · 26/12/2025 22:35

I'm going food shopping tomorrow but I didn't do a big christmas shop so it's just when I'd normally get it.

DeathMetalMum · 26/12/2025 22:42

Small shop tomorrow, we need a few bits for meals next few days, maybe some fresh fruit only a small basket full. Will also do a more regular but small weekly shop Tuesday. I popped on for a few 'last minute bits' Tuesday just gone and spent over £50 I did go a bit crazy on mince pies. We did have a buffet for 9 today a mix of adults and hollow legged teenagers.
