To ask DH to just buy me normal things [lighthearted]?

DH is brilliant. He loves buying presents. He takes huge time and care researching them. And will buy the best version of the thing that he can get.

But this year it's gone too far.
I needed a new hair brush. He said "I'll buy you that for Christmas" intending it as a little stocking filler.
I said a tangle teezer would be good because my hair's a bit brittle.
So he researched hair brushes. And rather than a tangle teezer, I got a £100 brush made from wild boar hair or some mad shit.

Ditto with socks - I asked for socks. I said I like the M&S thickish socks because I get cold feet.
He got me socks from the people who make socks for the pope. Seriously. They're bloody freezing, I've had to put some Primark bed socks over the top.

I'm grateful. I love that DP takes time and effort to get me lovely things. I make the right noises. I wear/use what I get.
But I just want some normal shit.

I asked for a new hairdryer as he wanted an idea and I thought it would save me the bother.

He didn’t buy me a hairdryer. He bought me a 5 in 1 multistyling dryer brush thing that I can't figure out how to use.

There's a blow dry brush, two curler things which just seem to suck hair in and blow it out again.

I asked him when he ever saw me curling my hair and he said, "now with this tool, you can."

Looks like I'm buying own hairdryer.

I asked him when he ever saw me curling my hair and he said, "now with this tool, you can."

Oh this line really made me laugh!

It's strange how often really expensive things are pretty crap at doing the job they are supposed to do. You'd expect expensive socks to be warm.

The trouble is that hype takes over and you think you are doing the right thing and really treating people and in reality you're not
