Does your teen/DC in their teens or 20’s vape? Our DD (she lives away at uni) vapes and refuses to stop and insists it’s not bad for her health when it is!

Nope. They don't drink either. 21 and 19.

anicesmellycandle · 24/12/2025 14:34

21,23,26 and nine of them do it. All scientists though who understand how awful they are.

alwaysstressed · 24/12/2025 14:45

Yes. My ds is 15 and he vapes. He has done now for about a year. I went ballistic when I first found out grounded him, stopped all money but ive gave up now as I felt it was damaging our relationship as I was constantly shouting and getting angry about it.

We just had a long chat this morning actually about him quitting he says it’ll be really hard as all his friends vape and his girlfriend so he’ll be around it constantly.
Ive even offered to help him by getting him NRT.

I hate it it makes me so sad that he does it.

Not the person posting’s problem that something makes you cringe though is it? She’s not going to stop for a stranger on the internet, especially a rude one that likes to point out they’ve said something ‘cringe’ and tried to embarrass them!

Seem to have taken my comment very much to heart! Not sure why it’s upset you so much. Public forum, they can say what they like, as can I.

clarrylove · 24/12/2025 15:14

No, my two are quite anti, thankfully.

Holluschickie · 24/12/2025 15:20

No. But DD tried it and then decided it was too expensive.

I just think you’re nasty and wanted to let you know 😂 you know, because it’s a public forum. Have the Christmas you deserve.

We have told DD too that it’s bad for her health but she still refuses to stop vaping.

She’s an adult, you can’t make her do anything and tbh the more you push the more likely she will continue.

DS20 has been vaping since he was 16 - secretly at first. We have always said no to vaping at home and have always expressed concern about the health implications.

He has tried a few times to stop and this time seems very focused on doing so. Unfortunately his GF also vapes and is refusing to give up which makes it harder for DS but he is still trying hard.

GroundControlToMajorTomCat · 25/12/2025 00:58

Yes

BootMaker · 25/12/2025 01:06

Yes.

But!

I've smoked cigarettes with intent for 35 years.

They will probably kill me.

I.

Love.

Nicotine.

Thatonenight · 24/12/2025 14:01

He’ll no. I would never allow it.

I feel like we should’ve scarified the older generation that apparently needed flavoured vapes to get off of cigarettes as it’s created a whole generation of vapers.

I was born in 92 none of my siblings or friends smoke or vape. Generation before smoked generation after vapes. It’s sad. We were about to be free from this nicotine addiction as a society.

How do you plan to “never allow it”?
Easy to say but hard to do.

I’ve never smoked and rarely drink more than a unit or two a month .
One of mine never would drink or smoke. The other one, since going to uni about 6 years ago (and living away ever since) has been a drinker (often to enormous excess) drugs (various) smoking and now vaping.
I refuse to allow any of those things if they are visiting my home for the day or staying overnight. But beyond these this roof it’s impossible to enforce.

ErrolTheDragon · 25/12/2025 01:08

My 26yo doesn’t, far too sensible.

piscofrisco · 25/12/2025 06:52

Yes. 18 and 20. Idiots.

NK5f4e6c9X110f7eac49e · 26/12/2025 19:05

My son 23 does and so does his girlfriend 20. As a secondary teacher I reckon 50% of them are vaping in school. It’s a huge problem.

wizzler · 26/12/2025 19:09

Mine don’t. 21 and 19

I have a challenging 14.5 year old boy who has had so so much trauma this year and have been so stressed recently about this exact thing....but feel you on this.....so so so much shouting, slamming doors and arguments and I just can't any more......all of his peers do it, they're always finding a way to do it. I stopped giving him any money at all and I still know he's finding a way
So I've reopened conversations and stopped shouting, because I want to know where he's getting it, and from who....I've reported 2 shops locally who serve him....it's more scary to me to have him close down conversation at the moment in our situation

I reported shops too but I also found out that he could easily find people on snapchat who would sell them to him and his friends.
He told me once that he and his friends arranged through snapchap to meet a random man in Morrisons carpark who would sell them out the boot of his car.
So bloody scary!
