Five nights at Freddy’s

DD13 keeps talking to me about a horror game she likes, apparently there’s ‘lore’ and when she tries to explain it to me it sounds a bit graphic (death, violence, kidnapping and horror elements) I find myself being partially worried but she is old enough for horror games. So I wonder if I’m being irrational?

Which game is it? There are quite a few. Mostly jump scares iirc

FNAF is totally fine for a 13 year old. My 7 year old plays it. Honestly completely fine.

Grand daughter aged 14 loves this game and the movies.

Google the plot and decide for yourself wether it's OK foe your child. The film is a 15 not sure about the games though.

My eldest loves five nights at freddies!! She's 15 and been a fan of the games since she was around 11 and she ended up all fine! Lots of love xoxo

My DD is extremely sensitive to gore and weird things but she loved the FNAF game.

(The film is absolute shite.)

Snuck my 10 year old into the movie. She loves it.

DD started talking about this FNAF thing in primary school as it was a trend, I think she was about 7. I didn’t let her play the games etc, and when I looked into the “lore” I thought it was way too much at that age. She’s now 14 and still into it. We’ve got all the books, which I’ve read myself too because they really are good. I loved the film as did she. Looking forward to watching the second one. 13 is not a bad age to be playing it and she’s obviously already done it more than once. Give it a go yourself, it’s just jump scares. A lot of kids are watching/playing much worse at 13, even far younger, not that that is okay. The film isn’t particularly that scary either.
I grew up on Goosebumps and then well before DD’s age I was into Point Horror. It’s still a trendy thing but I don’t think it’s really that big a deal in comparison with same aged kids who are absolutely unsupervised watching far worse like torture and bloodshed.

It’s a mildly scary game and perfectly fine for a 13-year-old.

Some kids like scary films. These kids are no more likely to be troubled kids than any other kids. Liking scary things doesn't lead to some kind of darkness.
Loads of lovely people love horror. It's massively popular. My son loves FNAF and Stranger Things and Wednesday and anything like that. And he's honestly the sweetest boy. With a real innate sense of morality.
I get sick of this idea that there must be something odd about liking to be scared. It's a natural human instinct and literally hundreds of thousands of people love horror, crime, thrillers and theme parks and ghost trains etc etc a lot of people love being scared!!
