Hair loss

I’m over 2 years postpartum with my 3rd daughter but my hair loss hasn’t stopped yet and it’s really getting me down! I’m still breastfeeding and my periods haven’t returned yet so I’m kind of putting it down to that. It’s mainly my hair line it’s so thin and patchy! Has anybody got any advice or tips that could potentially help? Whether it be supplements or special hair shampoos something that could make their hair loss less and the regrowth more. Going into New Year I’m really trying to put myself fast and make myself feel better.

Have you had your iron levels checked? I’ve struggled with hair loss for years which I have put down to stress, but I recently read that low iron can cause this, and I have form for being anaemic.

I recently went to the doctors as I was quite concerned that my periods hadn’t returned over two years postpartum and they did run lots of blood. Nothing came back of any concern I was told so I’m assuming all my levels were okay.

Ok blood levels - within range - can be far from optimun. See if you can get actual numbers.

Rosemary oil shampoo & super complex vitamin b (try Lindemans available on ebay). Must be the super complex high dose, not standard. Worked for me.

Read up on massaging castor oil on the parts that you feel need addressing.
Do it on an evening when you know you’ll be washing your hair next morning, and put an old “don’t care” pillow case on that night.

Castor oil actually regrew my eyebrows, which is why I’m suggesting.

Other natural help you could try is rosemary oil.. my cousin tried that for three months, and she was ecstatic to report that her hair had much improved.

At least if you try the above two suggestions, it won’t cost as much as branded concoctions, and IF it doesn’t work, you’ve not lost a fortune, and I doubt it’s harmful.
Tho’ if pregnant, you be wise to research.

Ask to see the results, they may be on your nhs app if you have one. Its a bit of a long game and trial and error though im afraid. At the moment i can see that eating quite healthily, using a little shampoo called nizoral (for the main ingredient) and taking ferrous fumarate tablets (iron) are helping a bit…. But thats been about a year and a half now.

Short term fix: hair fibres. I bought some Toppix on Amazon and found it very effective.

You need to throw everything at it in my experience.

Supplements for new growth
Scalp scrubs and oils
Protect what you have with nightcaps, low stress hairstyles etc.

Thanks for your replies! I’ve been doing some research and the best vitamins for hair growth from what I can see are biotin, iron & vitamin b. Is there any other ones I’m missing?

You need protein like eggs, fish, pulses.
Omega 3 nuts, salmon, chia seeds, selenium pumpkin seeds, leafy greens and lots of water too.
I’d probably start with blood tests and cutting back on alcohol, sugar etc (maybe not over the festive period!)
Scalp massage and getting the blood to flow there.
Collagen powder? I use plant /vegan it does seem to do something- my skin is plumper/more glowy. I know it’s hair you were targeting specially.
