To wonder if a dairy allergy is possible?

DS had CMPA as a baby and we did the milk ladder and he's been fine for years. However, now he's older (age 6) he suddenly seems to be developing a rash on his face and we think we've narrowed it down to when he's having milk or things with milk in although strangely there is no rash after he's eaten cheese?

No one indicated that he could react again in future to dairy when we did the milk ladder and despite contacting the gp surgery they seem reluctant to see him and basically just said don't give him milk which seems spectacularly unhelpful.

Has anyone had any experience of an intolerance/allergy to milk coming back years later and is it worth persevering with the gp?

It's totally possible to redevelop an allergy at any point (or start a completely new one at random). What's probably more likely at his age, is his immune system temporarily misfiring for a few weeks/months after an illness that puts his immune system into overdrive. Should pass quite quickly

I'd keep him off milk but let him have cheese, yogurt, and other processed dairy.

Thanks for the replies. I knew allergies could develop spontaneously out of nowhere but wasn't aware they could come back due to illness although he's actually been quite well all things considered given the bugs going round at the moment but I guess he could have caught something albeit small that triggered it.

I'm not sure if keeping him off just milk will help unfortunately as since we noticed the rash a few weeks ago so far we think he's reacted to milk, custard and this morning all hed had before the rash appeared was his Advent chocolate. Hence why I wondered if I needed to see the GP as it does seem to be getting more frequent.
