I’m a decent baker. Make bread once a week and some sort of dessert. But very rarely make biscuits as I prefer tray bakes to be honest.

Ive seen online that people make these biscuit cookies and I am absolutely charmed by them. Hoping to give them a go. Have all of this Saturday with the house to myself and I think it will be a fun way to get into the Christmas spirit. It is one dough and you make various shapes out of them.

Just wondering if this Mary Berry recipe for fork biscuits would work for the dough?

They’re delectable and very easy. Only biscuit I have probably made in the last few years.
I’m only making 3 different kinds. As I don’t want to stress myself out.

included a pic of the general idea

I made a similar recipe for a family birthday yesterday. Excellent biscuits but possibly too crumbly for some of the shapes.

Kim-joy does a lot of shaped biscuits, a quick google found her ginger biscuits pdf on Cats Protection (can't seem to link) has some extra ingredients which make the biscuits tougher but I'm not up on the technical side of baking.

No idea but I find Mary’s recipes a bit hit and miss.

These work - omit the cardamom if you like.

Thank you. The Mary Berry ones are good but may be too short. Thanks for the recipe!

It’s just a standard shortbread recipe, it’ll be fine for basic shapes.

Thank you! That was my exact concern. But not too familiar with biscuits so wasn’t 100%!

Your link doesn't work @Mellowlaz

We've made these before and they are super easy (hence me choosing this recipe - I am not a baker!) We didn't use any chocolate chips.

Edited to add this link doesn't give quantities.

Oh see I didn’t even know that. You don’t think it might be too crumbly?

The MB ones use self raising flour which make them less crumbly!

You could half-dip some in chocolate to make it look like you've made more varieties.

Yup that’s the plan! Have ordered dark and white chocolate plus some Christmas coloured 100s and 1000s.
