Need a bottom molar removed today this will leave me with nothing on one bottom side of my mouth and on the other side of my mouth I have all the uppers missing. So down and sad about it tbh. Does anyone else have a full side of bottom molars missing? What’s it like to live with? Did you get an implant or anything? The pains fluctuating but the tooth is completely deep filled trying to work out if to keep it longer in hope it will stay lower ache/pain and I’ll still have a tooth! or if to get it out as it’s prob only going to get worse again (and over Christmas!) any advice welcome xx

Different distribution to you, but got to the point where 3 uppers missing, 1 molar needing root filling (which was borderline viable) and molar the other side due to come out when pain got too bad.
I went with implants on the top so they were in process, bottom molar came out in Aug and that implant now in progress.
Very pleased to throw dentures away for top teeth. Implants settled well. Not cheap, but worth it to have decent functional eating and smiling without thinking.

I've had several out, and no issues at all. No implants (over my cold dead body would I have that done), just gaps.

No one can see them, I cover my mouth when I yawn....

Doesn't affect eating, chewing, speaking, singing or any other mouth activities.

However, I've just realised your mouth is much more complicated. Sounds like dentures even in the shorter term might me a good idea? Definitely one to discuss with your dentist though. Gold luck today!!

After pregnancy destroyed my already soft teeth, I have one molar left on the upper right, 2 left on the top left and one missing each side of the bottom. No implants and nobody ever notices.

I have several out and partial dentures which I get on ok with, if I was younger I would have implants but for me to have implants it would be a big job as I would need bone grafts, I'm in late 60s. If the gaps were where you can't see them much I wouldn't probably bother.

A lot depends on your budget really. I have had 5 implants done in total over the years but the cost is around £2,500 per tooth, so expensive but worth it to me.
In your situation with so many needed I think I would try dentures, if you have got big gaps in your teeth it can affect the teeth above or below the missing ones as they have nothing to bite down onto.
What does your dentist suggest?

thanks for replying to my post all. If I had the spare money I’d go straight down the implant root but maybe I can save / get payment plan. My teeth have been heavily filled since my early years but now I’ve hit mid 30’s they all seem to be cracking a giving up on me! not helped by the fact the dentist is one of my least favourite places to be x

Ah yes mine definitely got worse after my 3rd pregnancy! x

Which do you have missing if you don’t mind me asking? And thank you!! x

I’m just about to have molars and some cracks teeth removed (all on the bottom and all on one side) I’m lucky that I’m on an nhs dentist and I’m getting partial dentures- implant currently not an option due to gum health.
so def worth having a chat with your dentist to see what your options are - but I’d say get the issue removed- I’ve had recurring abscesses on my bad tooth and no Matter why they’ve done it just comes back worse every time

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 17/12/2025 10:51

The advantage of implants is it preserves the bone. Without teeth the jaw bone shrinks. If you have several teeth missing in a row then a possible compromise might be an implant supported bridge.
I am not a dentist- I have one implant replacing a back molar and the tooth next to it has a root canal so I don’t know how long it will survive. I have been researching options.

CandyCaneKisses · 17/12/2025 10:54

What options are available?

I had an upper molar removed last week after having problems with it but I managed to get around five years out of a root canal. In the end there was constant back to back infections so it had to go but I am already hating the gap. I am going to see about having a bridge in the new year once it’s healed as implants are out of my budget at the moment.

I have 2 molars left on either side of both my upper and lower jaw (can't believe I've only just realised that!) but my teeth are at disaster because I grind and have terrible genetics.

They are all yellowed because of the lack of enamel with dentine showing through so cent be whitened.

Plus I had a phobia from age 15-30ish which meant I had to be IV sedated for anything other than a checkup (during which I'd still cry) and led to lots of worsened problems due to lack of intervention and treatment.

My phobia is much improved but I do still have panic attacks and cry but at least it's quieter 😂 plus I've been able to sit through extractions, root canals, fillings and everything else despite the terror. I hate it

I would probably see about partial dentures, that will keep your teeth in place, it sounds like you have a run of gaps, then you can perhaps consider implants in the future
