Hair perfume

First world problem, I have several bottles of hair perfume that I have been gifted. It is a lovely idea but I find it makes my hair sticky.
Could this be used as a regular scent do you think as it is a waste?
Otherwise, my question is AIBU, it is only sticky because of the way I am using it?

I have a Jo Malone one. It doesn’t make hair sticky but I tend to lift hair and spray it underneath close to neck . Still get the scent that way.

Thanks VictoriaEra,
I also have a Jo Malone one so I will try what you suggested. It is just a terrible waste otherwise.

I really don’t understand why there are now specific hair perfumes.
I have always sprayed the back of my neck under base of hair as PP says and then brush through.

I do the same, turn my head upside down & spray under my hair.

Also, spray it onto my scarf, or into a scent cloud & walk through.

I only ever spray perfume into my hair, it'd make me rashy if I apply it to skin. That said, I do have one which is specifically hair perfume and it's noticeably slightly greasy.
