Hate virus season so much

I am so done with illnesses! My toddler has had one viral illness after another and we’ve had to cancel so many plans, not to mention the time taken off work at the busiest time of year. I’m so behind with Christmas prep because my routine and plans have gone to pot. We’ve lost money on a weekend away because she was too sick to travel and I’m just worried that it’s going to happen again and again until spring.

I’m very worried that the next one will be a d&v bug which will take us all down. We have another trip booked between Christmas and new year and I’m on tenterhooks about that. Just feels like all of the things that should be enjoyable at this time of year are being ruined or cancelled by bugs.

I’ve lost so much money on bookable activities like Santa grottos etc which I absolutely won’t be doing next year.

Sorry for the rant I’m just feeling so stressed with it all. Have your kids been unwell too? How do you cope!

I've just got over a nasty cold and now I've got a D&V bug.

I'm fed up of feeling ill, but hoping I might have developed some immunity that will keep me bug-free over Christmas and New Year.

We are all sick with the flu and it’s an absolute nightmare. So many plans foregone, my eldest has been off school for over a week, my youngest has been in an urgent care centre, I’ve also come down with it and can barely get out of bed. I would like the virus to fuck off.

They will have a much stronger immune system next year

I wish I could just not send her to nursery the week before Christmas but alas, I need to work. This must be where she picks most of it up and I feel nervous about what she’s going to bring home next. A cough and a sniffle we can power on with but the recent ones have totally wiped her out.

Sorry but how many trips and activities have you booked? No wonder you're always ill rushing about like that, you can't get much downtime to actually rest.

Slow down, and don't book so much in peak illness season!

I’ve booked things like Santa grottos and light trails nothing fancy 😂

And between Christmas and new year we are going to stay with family which we are all really looking forward to. It’s pretty standard stuff really, just trying to make the most of the time of year. We have plenty of days at home too.

Unfortunately it happens and some kids catch bugs more than others. I work in schools, DC go to school, so the probability is quite high. DH wfh but will catch the bugs which he's dismayed about!

Fortunately it's not been excessive so we've not to cancel as much but then again we don't book many mega expensive events and those we do like pantomime we can exchange dates.

Travel arrangements are of course much more difficult so maybe try to create some time between activities for time to rest at home?

I have a friend who feels the need to book every Christmas activity available, not saying you're the same, but it can too much for everyone.
