  1. tell us about offers the same day they are made
  2. tell buyers we have rejected offers (dif time) on the same day, instead of chasing us again two days later (poor buyers must have thought we were taking ages)
  3. put photos of our flat on the property spec and website within three weeks of taking them (they lost the first lot - which we only found out after chasing them and being lied to
  4. to ever, even ONCE return my calls (tho' goodness knows they chase me like no-one's business when it's for them)
  5. after my dh's has told them three times to use his phone number instead of mine, for them to actually do that
  6. to call use when they know they're not coming to do a viewing on a saturday afternoon, rather than just not come. or at least ring and apologise on the monday

GGGRRRR. to top it all off, they have done a viewing today without letting me know because i'm SAHM'ing at the moment, rather than give them a spare set of keys. never been a problem and always been able to accomadate them. this saturday we were out in the afternoon for two viewing and left keys with the gut doing the morning viewings with the specific instructions to leave them on the dining room table. also told senior negotiator back in office the same thing. of course they didnt leave them here. then today i get in and the front door's double locked (which i have never once done) ... luckily no nappy bags on floor, but bed unmade, knickers on show drying on rack and a bit of a pooey smell from nappy in a bin . dh doesnt understand why i am so upset but i am really fuming. i know whats happened --- they have not rung DH once on his mobile in the last two days and will have been leaving messages on// sending texts to my lost phone.

Can you just change estate agents?

tyaca · 10/06/2008 19:28

the manager's the worst of the bunch and has been responsible for at least half the things listed above. xlr8 - it would cost us a percent of the sale price ...

Sadly there are a lot of agents like this, but there are some good ones, what MP said

Youcannotbeserious · 10/06/2008 19:54

Change estate agents.

Go for an older, established agent.

There are SOOOO many newer estate agents who haven't ever had to work in the sort of market they are currently in.

Dh and I pulled out of a house sale in February because of a crappy estate agent - the seller must be gutted because he's had to drop the price to £25K below what we offered and he still hasn't secured another buyer.

It's a buyers market so you are certainly not being unreasonable.

MrsPickles is right.
In this climate they should be falling over themselves to be helpful to you. Hope you find a new (excellent) agent and that your current one goes bust.

agents are quite established (it's Andrews which is a chain, Streatham branch btw), but the actual negotiators are v young. apparently there used to be six senior negotiators at the branch but the slow down in business measn they've had to downsize to just three. i cant help but wonder just how rubbish the other ones were.

basically have decided again selling flat now and are going to rent it instead. i think i am so upset at having been lied to and treated so badly. it's not even a lack of base level proffessionalism, its just plain rude. am v upset in partic about them coming round today. dh doesnt care that people have been in our flat when its messy and there's a pooey smelly nappy stinking out the bin, but i find it quite toe-curling and a real invasion of privacy
