To make DH pull the kick boards off

My sister has just popped around and we don't usually have her dog in the house (ds is quite allergic) but it was freezing so she just brought her in the kitchen where she wasn't all over sofa or carpets etc. She's never been in before but started running around sniffing at my kickboards obsessively and one area in particular.
DH thinks im nuts and she was just having a sniff around but she was staring, tail tucked under at one particular are for almost half an hour and the started pawing at it.
Have convinced myself there's either something living under there or worse 😂
AIBU to take the kickboards off and investigate? Never heard anything or had any signs of mice etc. Kickboards are a nightmare to get off but I dont think ill settle.

Should add that the kitchen is clean, no crumbs or anything spilled anywhere.

Take them off and report back

PollyBell · 12/12/2025 21:23

You are wrong to make anyone do anything, why not do it yourself if you are so obsessed

ZippyPeer · 12/12/2025 21:24

Do it yourself! No need to 'make' anyone else do anything

mumofoneAloneandwell · 12/12/2025 21:29

Definitely make him do it, just to put your mind at ease xx

FiatLuxAdAstra · 12/12/2025 21:30

Either a mouse in the house or a ghost in the kitchen

I agree take them off yourself. They’re only on with plastic clips. It’s super easy.

50Balesofgrey · 12/12/2025 21:36

Why do you feel able to make someone do something you could easily do?

ProbablyNotThisTime · 12/12/2025 21:37

Ah should have said I have severe arthritis in my hands so cant do it myself. Can't get them off without a fight so I'd have no chance!

that’s exactly what i was going to say—a mouse or a ghost. Neither will bother you. I would ignore.

ProbablyNotThisTime · 12/12/2025 21:58

Nothing under there, no droppings or sign of anything just the usual dust and the odd crispy woodlice!

The dog is a vengeful genius. That’s what you get for restricting it to the kitchen.

LarryMiddleman · 12/12/2025 23:57

I didn't realise dogs can see ghosts. You learn a lot on here.

BashfulClam · 13/12/2025 09:46

The house i grew up in had many creepy things happen and also had a general feeling of being watched. One day my docile golden retriever jumped i. front of me and started barking and snarling at the air. Nothing was there but it was as if she was protecting me. Her face was in a complete snarl and I had never seen her so fierce. No idea what she could see but I almost pooped my pants! So if there are ghosts I think she was seeing one.

There was probably some old splashes of food/gravy/something tasty you can't see and his sensitive nose picked it up.
