To ask if you or your child had ODD or PDA what are they like as an adult?

Just looking for some experiences from others like did they grow out of it or has it caused problems in adulthood with employers or the law.
My ds is waiting to be assessed for ADHD and ODD although I’m only diagnosed as ADHD I’m sure I was exactly the same at school and as an adult I really struggle with authority and find it difficult to accept or respect anyone who has power or authority but I manage to keep it to myself to get by so it’s sort of internalised but I know it can present different for people and as i’m a quiet female I’m quite a people pleaser on the outside.
I have heard it can develop negatively and people can end up in trouble with the law and become anti social as adults which I haven’t and I hope my son will not.

I think ODD and PDA present quite differently and from what you’ve described you sound more ODD.

My ex husband has a very clear PDA profile which he managed to mask adequately but ultimately it’s driven by anxiety which he avoids and that manifests as him avoiding anything which might make him feel uncomfortable. His life is very small, and has gotten smaller since we split. His absolute default setting is “no” and a refusal to even consider trying to change in any way.

Following as I have a family member just diagnosed with ODD.

I’ve just been Googling what the future looks like but it’s not the most pleasant of all research.

My youngest friend in SEN school has ODD. It took until she was about 24 for her to settle down. She had issues in the workplace, with neighbours, across SM and with friendships. At 27 she's now doing ok.

I am diagnosed autistic and think I have a PDA profile although that isn’t diagnosed in my local area.
I’ve done ok as an adult. Work issues are more around sensory sensitivities for me. I do need to be able to manage my own workload and pace myself so I do best on jobs with a high level of autonomy and not team work. I don’t object to carrying out instructions if they make sense to me.

Nevwr been in trouble with the law. I do struggle with healthcare professionals and particularly when my autonomy is threatened.
