To feel like I'm screaming into the void?

Short and sweet post really - I am having unusual bleeding and a huge change in my periods. I have for a year. Dr's multiple times and just feel like I'm always getting fobbed off. This is more than a reasonable change. Dr just seem to not care at all? I am having to fight tooth and nail for someone to do more than shrug their shoulders and say 'woman are like this' or go on hormonal contraception. I don't want a sticking plaster I want to know WHY so I can make an informed choice.
I asked point blank to be referenced to a gynae or a hormone specialist but I was told NO.

Has anyone else had this? What can I possibly do?

How old are you? It's odd that they haven't sent you for a scan. I had two when this happened to me. Can you go back to a different GP, with a printed copy of the NICE guidelines? There is a protocol and doctors need to follow it. Of course it does depend on what the changes are - maybe they are fairly sure this is part of the menopause transition?

I'm in my late 20s! The change has happened over the course of a year with two big bleeding spells.

Have you seen the same GP or different ones?

I would suggest a different GP, take someone to the appointment to take notes, read up on everything you are concerned about plus the NICE protocols and say you want to be referred for a scan. If they refuse, ask them to put in the notes that they have refused the scan request and ask them to confirm that it is impossible for this to be anything serious.

This is very strange.

Have you been going to the same doc?

Same here OP. Mid 30s and my periods are two weeks on 12 days off and ‘that’s just the way the god made me’, ‘have the coil fitted’, ‘you’re nowhere near anaemic’ and ‘are you just a bit of an anxious person?’

This is the response across several healthcare professionals, one private. I’ve tried several different hormonal methods over the years to ‘fix’ this and I still bleed through them.

A sympathetic nurse did send me for scans when my hormone test came back abnormal, which thankfully were all clear. However, it’s left me stuck with the answers above. No one is willing to investigate further because I’m repeatedly told this is my normal.

You’re going to have to really fight hard here for a more proactive response. Have you got anyone who can go in with you to advocate how this is affecting you and your daily life. It shouldn’t take that for you to be listened to but I hope you get somewhere soon.
