To have spent £80 on a winter wonderland kind of thing?

And the only slot I got was in the evening. It's on a lovely farm and has brilliant reviews but £50 for a child ticket is insane, isnt it?

I just feel so guilty because dh and mil are taking older dc on a trip abroad. They would have happily taken ds as well but he's got school. So I wanted to do something special with him as well. It's of course much cheaper than dh and dd's holiday but it's still crazy. What is even crazier is that all these santa experience things seem to be not just insanely expensive but also pretty much booked out.

Have I been living under a rock?

Are you feeling buyers remorse @GrinchiestGrinch

If no financial distress then nae bother (whispers, £50 for a child ticket though...faints) 😉

That is the same as saving £4 a month over the year. That makes it sound more reasonable. The question is the event worth £50 to you? Obviously depending on your pay that could be 2-3 hours of working. If the answer is no, then says more about the value you place on the event. 😊

It sounds somewhere between normal and cheap where I am, not that it makes it any better.

Beedeeoh · 10/12/2025 13:36

Not far off the going rate for this type of thing near me, so I don't think you've overpaid much in that sense.

FastTurtle · 10/12/2025 13:39

Sounds a decent price, I remember paying £100 each (adult and DC price) for Lapland UK 15 years ago.

Our local light show is £30 each.

Feetune · 10/12/2025 13:40

Not everyone is paying full price for the experiences though - we pay for 2 child entries for our dcs but get 2 disabled companion ticket for the adults so the overall cost is lower. There may be other promos, or gps paying etc. We do a big Santa experience every year, I figure it's only a short time in their childhood, they enjoy it and we like watching them have fun. Eldest is 7 and will soon grow out of it.

Suppose it depends on how good it is.

Some places put on a really good show with a lot of thought and effort. Others are awful and are nothing more than a bit of whitewash on the grass and a somewhat reluctant to be petted reindeer tied to a stick.

One of these nearly always makes it to the Daily Rage per year.

Report back and let us know.

Depends how much everything is once you get inside. If it's a tenner per ride and £15 for a hot chocolate I wouldn't.

Your son is bound to really enjoy himself OP, winter event and Mum to himself!
Make a countdown calendar with him to look forward to it and wear a bit of tinsel, this stage of life goes by so quickly. Wishing you a Merry Time x

Sounds like a wonderful experience with your DC. I wouldn’t focus on the money so much
