Every now and then, we receive letters and post addressed to a woman at our address. These have included bank correspondence, supermarket coupons, and other mail. Sometimes months go by with nothing, and then a few more pieces arrive. We know she has never lived at this address(at least not in the past 50 years), based on what the previous owners told us.
Is this something we should be concerned about?

Have you checked your loft?

It's probably just a mistake but definitely get it sorted, if she's registered with a bank at your address and took out a loan then didn't pay it where do you think debt collectors will turn up?

I'd be really worried about that tbh. There's a programme on BBC sounds about scams called Scam Secrets and it covers this very topic. Someone could be using your address and on the back of that, all kinds of stuff comes through your door. Definitely listen to the programme, it's only 30 mins long.

I would take photos of it then do return to sender never lived at this address on it all, but mn will come up with some big long back story to why you shouldn't most probably, she is probably escaping the Mafia? Needs to have a secret double life

I did contact Santander about it as that one worried me a bit, and they asked me to return the letter, which I did. But obviously not heard anything back from them about it due to GDPR etc

Yes! This is why I’m worried, I’ve heard stories about this. I haven’t seen that particular episode but will definitely look for it. I wasn’t really concerned until I realised there was letters from different companies (not just one) so unlikely to be a mistake

We have the same thing there is a block across the road from us which has the same address as ours as it’s in the same road but the block has a name too, so if the person in the block with the same number as ours has forgotten to write the block name as well we get their post.
