Aibu to think I need to present my BP records to GP using some good app?

I want to take my blood pressure records to my Gp. I know they are going to be short on time and am thinking there must be a really good app out there. Does anyone know what format is best for GPs and of any good apps I could use for an iPhone to record and store blood pressure?

I just write them down and hand it in. I do work out the average for them.

Reggiebo · 09/12/2025 17:03

Pen and paper is fine.

My GP surgery prints off a form for me to fill in. Have you asked the receptionist?

Graciously · 09/12/2025 17:06

I take a photo of the blood pressure machine and email it in. It gets uploaded to my nhs record

LymeRegals · 09/12/2025 17:06

Of course I have mentioned to the receptionist, but the practice is miles away and I want to record it every day forever.

Has your GP asked you to record it every day?

LymeRegals · 09/12/2025 17:13

Why do you ask? It’s good practice. In any case, I was told to record it every day.

I quite often have very high BP. But it goes down quite quickly.
My surgery every 4 months or so send me a link every morning and evening to record the readings for 7 days and then about a week later they let me know it's fine.
But there is no need to do it every day forever. If it's consistently high over a week you will get medication if it isn't it only needs checking occasionally.

BeautifulSongsofLove · 09/12/2025 17:18

Write down dates, times & measurements, either bring this with you to your appointment or copy and paste the dates, times & measurements into the text box when you book your online consultation

There's no expectation that you do any calculations with your measurements, staff can easily do this online

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 09/12/2025 17:19

When I had to do seven days of readings, I was sent an online form to fill in with my results: they were submitted then and there and the GP worked out the averages. Presumably if they have asked you to do these readings and want to know your results, they’ll offer something similar.

I will let the hospital cardiac consultant know you said there is no need to check it daily. ;-D

Feel free to check it every day forever. That’s your right.

But don’t expect the nhs to take a reading from you and record it every day forever.

jomaIone · 09/12/2025 17:24

You can check it daily but the GP will not monitor it daily. If you need daily blood pressure checks and monitoring you would need to be in hospital.

Even if there was an app, your GP would need to have said app and they aren't going to...

Perhaps you should have put that in your op. Did the consultant not tell you what to do with the readings? Or what to do if they are too high or too low. Seems a bit pointless otherwise.

No one said anything about expecting the NHS to take daily readings! Why are you being belligerent? If you have some axe to grind, can’t you grind it elsewhere?

Have you got something like a Fitbit app on your phone? You can manually add measurements like BP to those and it will make a nice graph over time - week, month or year. I think you can probably get the app even if you don't have the watch..

HelenHywater · 09/12/2025 17:39

My GP sent me a link and I inputted my BP online.

MsWilmottsGhost · 09/12/2025 17:40

Oh I see you said iPhone. Then you can just add BP manually in the health app.

CaptainSevenofNine · 09/12/2025 17:41

There’s a built in app for iPhone to record your BP. It’s in the health app.

LymeRegals · 09/12/2025 17:42

Thank you - it would be nice to have it all online!

Chazbots · 09/12/2025 17:45

Fordy33 · 09/12/2025 17:47

sickleaveornot · 09/12/2025 17:54
