To ask, roughly how much do you spend per week?

I’m curious, so not including food and bills I’m spending around 200 per week, I suppose I’m off work on may leave and hate staying in so my spending is on coffee shops/ lunch and junk I don’t need around the shops. I am looking to cut back as I think it’s a waste and I think I could be saving most of that money. How much do you roughly spend per week?

On coffee shops, lunch and junk? Virtually nothing.

I'm not really a spender, and wouldn't spend money "just because".

I just did a financial review.
Food shop for family of four, all school lunches and packed lunch (including random top up shops which REALLY add up) £130-150 a week
Eating out probably once a month so equates to £25 a week.
Coffee shops and cake? Nothing. I work from home. When I worked in the city I would easily drop £20 a day on coffee, cake and a few bits from M & S. I saved a FORTUNE on mat leave!

20
that’s a couple of exercise classes and a couple of cokes and a bit of change

and also am not working at the moment

I would really want something to show for 200- I would feel sick if I went through that in a week on coffee and junk

Last month, on average £100/week. A small proportion of that (10-15%) went on cafes.

I spent the rest on a much needed new raincoat in the Black Friday sale, a rather expensive book I’ve been wanting to buy for the last 3 months and a somewhat unnecessary, but fun, order of art materials.

For me, spending money on drinks & cake feels a bit like a waste of money, but I’m sure others would think the same about some of my purchases. If visiting cafes (and geting out of the house) gives you enjoyment, it may be money well spent for you?

I have singing lessons and choir fees of £25 per week for both and have £50 per week for personal spends.

Too much, especially in the run up to Christmas... It's mostly activities and days out with the kids, sparkly this and that for Christmas events at school, gifts for the world and his dog, winter bits (hats and gloves and whatnot) that never seem to be in the same place I put them away in last March, and enough takeaway coffees to sink a battleship (essential for my sanity).

You’re on Mat leave. Enjoy the socialising because before you know it you’ll be back at work. I wouldn’t want to look back on this time and think gosh I just stayed in all day

I am the same and spend £100 a month on baby classes plus then coffee and lunches. I’ll save again when I’m back at work. Right now this life feels like a treat because when I’m back at my desk there won’t be time for a cafe lunch!

A lot.

I do have a coffee habit, particularly as I need to find toilets regularly when at work, but try to avoid lunches out.

When I was spending less, I had a decent flask and took coffee and sandwiches from home out on walks and natural places. There will be decent places to go near you, we are lucky in this country for that, though admittedly it is much harder to get enthusiastic over eating outside at this time of year - more stuffing something down and getting moving again.

I’m retired so at a different stage of life but have an income amd free time so in that sense it’s similar. I go out to lunch once a week with a friend but that’s a social meet up and it’s about £12. General spending very little. In the last 2 months I had a big spend on clothes for DS graduation which was £260 and yesterday bought small gifts for my hobby group which was £33. Plus £60 on DH presents and Christmas lights. I don’t really fritter, my spending has a purpose. Seems like you are bored. I did a course when on maternity leave one morning a week and also had an exercise class and swim one morning, leisure centre had a free crèche back then, plus one baby session in a church and was a £1 for coffee and biscuits.

Wow so around 1000 a month on coffee lunch etc
I'd definitely want to cut down and save that too
You could have a wonderful holiday instead.

On mat leave I just did free things took food/drink from home and went to the park or walk around the shops/library. I had £50 a month and would save it.

We have a bit more disposable income these days but still have weeks where I don't spend anything at all and would prefer to save it. Often a good job too because only need a car repair bill to crop up and that's the savings gone.
