...to raise money for a charity. If anyone has any inspiration or ideas please could you tell me?

Sponsored swim maybe? How many lengths?

I am all out of energy and inspiration!
Thank you!

Okay, I’ll answer your question.

Ideas:,
run a marathon
cycle from castle a to cycle b
Row a canoe across the Solent
swim seven miles down the river Severn
Sit in a bath of bake beans for 24 hours
Watch a football match at every FA football team club in England

I'd be most inclined to sponsor someone to do something useful. Sponsored litter pick for example. Swimming or abseiling or some other exciting activity doesn't add any extra value to the cause, isn't sufficiently entertaining for would be sponsors to buy into, and often requires 'waste' in terms of the cost of doing the activity.

He could offer to wrap up people's presents for a small fee, I hate wrapping, it's something I'd pay for

That is a good idea.

I think that is right, and my original question was - does anyone have any inspiration in relation to what he could do?
I think most of the posters here are answering a different question.

I am just looking for ideas for things to do.

And yet you still haven’t answered the question about WHY he is doing this. You’d get better answers if you did because frankly I think people are struggling to give answers due to your lack of clarity.

He should hire himself out for jobs rather than pointless sponsoring. Far more useful. Friends student Dd was going to hire herself out as a pre Christmas assistant. Would totally pay for that

Did you have to pay to abseil though? So did you pay or did the donations go towards it?
(To be fair I have no idea how much an abseiling session costs)
I just find the ones where people raise money to go on a trip abroad to "help" people a bit 😬 if you get what I mean.
Most of the money people donate actually pays for the flights, accommodation etc.
My nieces have done those types of charity trips. I donated money but had to bite my tongue as really it was a two week holiday with a couple of days of "charity" work while there.

It was set up on a building that doesn’t normally have any abseiling going on by the charity. I really can’t remember if I paid or if it was free as a fundraising event full of volunteers manning it. I don’t think it’s a good way to raise money really because it was me basically having a brilliant day and I think like others have said people should overcome a challenge or something to be sponsored.

i did recently do a sponsored sky dive. I paid for the sky dive and all the sponsor money went to charity. I don’t like the idea of people’s sponsor money paying for the event either so I was sure to pay for my own sky dive.
