to ask about Issviva, and or other devices to both deliver a stronger pelvic floor, and to help with penetrative sex in my older years.

Hi, I was very interested in what Issviva said their device had to offer on their website.
However I’ve since looked at the Trustpilot reviews, and it’s not got many happy customers.

Have you any experience of Issviva, as their device is not cheap, but if it did deliver all that it promises, I’d consider that expense.

if you know of any other company yhat produces a similar device, that has got good reviews on Trust pilot, then it’d be interested in hearing your experience.

Thank you so much

Have you seen a specialist physio?

NotEvenWildHorsesCould · 04/12/2025 03:02

No…. not seen a specialist… I’d feel too embarrassed to ask about the possibility of less discomfort and more pleasure when it come to my intimacy, and I am already trying to address the overly frequent iff so it’s to the loo…

No idea what these devices are.
Are you using vaginal estrogen? If not, why not? Ask your GP to prescribe or go to a private doctor for a prescription. There is no age limit to using such products, it is a localised treatment and helps with various inconveniences including frequent trips to the bathroom. Have a look on the menopause board for advice.

Summerhillsquare · 04/12/2025 04:49

Second the vaginal oestrogen cream. GPS are happy to help with women's mid life health needs if there's a man's sexual requirements in the mix.

Copperoliverbear · 04/12/2025 04:51

I go to pelvic physio, my lady is fantastic and has really helped, get over your embarrassment and go.
i also take Jude bladder tablets and collagen both help your bladder health.

Justputsomeyoghurtonit · 04/12/2025 06:57

Vaginal oestrogen from your GP. I used estriol cream. Liberally. Twice a week wasn't enough for me, gynae told me to use it daily.

We use condoms, plus water based lube. It's grim (lube) but it works. Condoms have been used for birth control for our whole marriage so even though I have a mirena, we've carried on.

Go and see a physio. What is there to be embarrassed about? Mine has twinkly music and blankets and frankly it's a bit like going to a spa.

Ps. The vaginal oestrogen stops you needing the loo all the time.

Tillygan60 · 04/12/2025 07:30

Vaginal estrogen cream or pessaries on prescription from GP. You'll need to keep using this, for ever, but it works, and its free ( as you're presumably over 60).

Justputsomeyoghurtonit · 04/12/2025 07:39

@Tillygan60 why do you think the OP is over 60?

GumFossil · 04/12/2025 07:41

I have a Kegel8 device. I purchased it during the pandemic (when I was 47) and used it diligently when stuck at home in lockdowns. I was concerned I was developing stress incontinence as I couldn’t go on the trampoline or run without a completely empty bladder. I never had a frequency or sex issue.

Anyway, I found it really effective and have had no need to use it in the intervening years, despite now being menopausal.

'In my older years' it says so in the title.

Justputsomeyoghurtonit · 04/12/2025 08:49

Ah, fair point.

Though I'm 47 and consider that I have entered my older years already 😬

Branster · 04/12/2025 08:51

Late 40s here as well and regularly refer as myself as being old . Young I definitely am not 😁

Chazbots · 04/12/2025 08:52

Definitely go to a pelvic physio.

I went (eventually) as I had a sore coxyx and was worried about it but spent way more time discussing urgency and pelvic floor things.

I went private but the physio was also NHS and told me that their waiting lists (which are always awful here) weren't too bad and it would help if people did go earlier. It's really made a difference to me and as someone who spends a lot of time talking pads and continence with older people, best addressed before that stage.

No way you should consider that you’ve entered your older years… admittedly that’s what I thought when I was as young as you, but looking back, I feel I must’ve been stupid to think so negatively.

For those that wish to know, I am past retirement age, and possibly have no rights to wish for a sex life that is as joyful as it was say eight years ago.
BUT
rights or no rights, I actually want to enjoy and look forward to being able to not experience that dryness and the stress I feel because of it.

I already use the Estriol cream, but was advised, only two to three times a week.
I was grateful to read that another poster has had advice to use it everyday, perhaps that could be an answer for me.

Thank you to all posters as well as “yogurt on it”.
🤣 LOVE your username 👍

I think you have every right to every bit of joy you can find OP.
As should all women regardless of age.

askdrnoor is a doctor on instagram and she had a video on how to apply the cream correctly yesterday. I don't know how to do a link, in fact I don't even know how to save any of those videos on Instagram so hopefully I won't forget what she said when the time comes to make a leap into HRT.
Look it up.

I agree with others that a physio would be invaluable.

Justputsomeyoghurtonit · 04/12/2025 13:42

@NotEvenWildHorsesCould quite right and why shouldn't you enjoy sex!

You'll find that most pelvic physios are insanely supportive of women at any age enjoying themselves..

Yes yes to using estriol daily. Honestly my GP was stumped by my sore vulva, gynae took one look and essentially told me to drown my tissue in estriol cream. I go through a tube a week.

And re the username, I think I had thrush when I came up with that!

Justputsomeyoghurtonit · 04/12/2025 13:43

You might also take a look at Lauren ohayon on insta. She just has a lovely approach to women's sexual health.

Also Kelly Casperson might have a podcast you can listen to.

I also follow female physio from Australia.

NotEvenWildHorsesCould · 04/12/2025 14:17

Awwww! Thanks for all your lovely messages of support.
