Hosting a Christmas Eve buffet for dinner. First time ever.

Just curious what you would do.

So far I have:

  • Baked Camembert with cheese garlic dough balls (shaped in a wreath)
  • Charcuterie tree
  • Sausage rolls
  • Prawn cocktail cups
  • selection of meats and cheese
  • salad
  • cheesecake
  • yule log
  • mince pies
  • mulled wine
  • champagne

Everything will be homemade

is this enough?

I don’t want to roast anything. I want it to be more of a spread that people pick at.

I don’t want to over extend myself. Only close family and friends will be in attendance

Now I need to know - how far ahead do you prepare the charcuterie tree and how do you store it/keep it safe to eat until people arrive? It looks so nice I'd like to try it!

Thanks :)

I just buy sausage meat from whichever supermarket and add garlic and parsley :)

Have tried adding onion chutneys etc but just never love the flavour despite it featuring on A LOT of recipes

Edited

I sometimes add a dash of worcestershire sauce, but really the key is basic salt and herbs!

Can you cater for gluten free? If so I'll be round with bells on 😁 sounds lovely!

I used the kit last year and that was literally done in about 7 mins (had multiple doing it though).

I think it will take maybe 30 or so minutes this time around (total). I plan on making the skewers the morning of (storing the toothpicks in Tupperware until needed) and then assembling maybe an hour or so before? Hopefully by then there will be room in the fridge.

I will not be doing any spiral design. Just whacking it all on. It’s impressive even when it’s rustic looking imo.

Look on Pinterest/instagram loads of people have recipes.

Will give it a try. Thank you! Never used Worcestershire sauce before. But I agree sausage rolls are plenty good with literally just pepper and salt.

charcuterie tree tutorial that is closest to what I will be doing. I’ll probably add a bit more rosemary as I have a bush and love the smell
