Does you and/or your Dh do anything special with your Dc on your own for xmas?

I grew up with my dad doing something separately with me and my siblings for Christmas
For example, he’d take my Dsis to see the reindeer, me maybe to go Christmas shopping and my Dbro to the cinema-things like that.
My mum didn’t really, but we were with her all the time and my special days out just with dad meant a lot.
My Dh is not like this really, whereas I will go with just Dd to see the Nutcracker and then for a sweet afternoon type tea.
I’d love to give dh some ideas so dd has similar memories to me

Do you/your Dh do this or you don’t really see the point?

OH has been taken DD since she was 3 out shopping for my Christmas/bday presents. They have lunch together, trawl the shops and she’s in charge of picking and she gets a little bit spoilt too. I don’t know if that counts.

Mostly we’ve doing family stuff all the 3 when she was little .

We always go as a family for key things leading up to Christmas. Unless you or your DH are working weekends or don't have time to do family stuff then I can see why taking your DC out on your own could be a thing. If you want your DH to give your DC what you had growing up it would need to be something he too wants to do or it will end up being something forced and your DC may not have a good time. So perhaps you do the nice days out with your DC as it sounds like something you enjoy doing. It doesn't have to be your DH

Anyway some ideas-

Xmas trip to see Polar Express or another Christmas movie in 3D- I am taking my DC to see Polar Express next week ( we do this every year)
Ice Skating
Panto
Hogwarts in the snow
Christmas markets

We usually go to a very traditional pub and spend the afternoon having their Christmas menu and playing cards near the fire. It's basically a less stressful/demanding version of Christmas day.

We'll do a Christmas Market if we can find a small one.

Theatre somewhere between Christmas and New year.

There are a fair few light trails near us, that's nice on a cold evening.

Basically something where we can have a relaxed time and a chat.

We do things as a family, as opposed to one on one. I really love those family memories.

So the reality of being working parents with careers meant in our case that the Christmas hols childcare was us taking different days off. This translated into DH doing a seasonal cinema trip with DS and me taking DS to see Father Christmas at the garden centre. Weekends we'd do things as a family if DH wasn't working to a deadline

DH takes DC to legoland on one of the weekdays between the end of school and Christmas Day.

Not particularly Christmassy I know, but they have some Christmas stuff there, and the queues are short!

I stay home and do present wrapping and cooking (which I would infinitely prefer to legoland!)
