How much did you lose on your first month on GLP1?

I am at the very low end of overweight for my height. I have lost my baby weight slowly. But am struggling to break under the 10 stone mark. I was 120 pounds pre kids. I have been at this for almost a year now. Lost over 60 pounds. I found weight loss very easy when I breast fed but I stopped quite early on due to difficulties. Progress has stalled.

I just want to be the old me. I’ve avoided GLP1s as my mother had chronic gallstones and I’m worried I have an elevated risk for developing them. I also have a fear of vomitting.

But I’m so sick of dieting. I was thinking I could go on them for a month or so. I’ve hit my third plateau and am so over it.

You see people drop weight so fast these days.

How much did you lose in your first month?

I really think one month would be all I need

I assume I would qualify as my bmi is considered overweight

I think I really need something to help me as I have lost momentum and energy

I didn’t have a lot of weight to loose but was overweight bmi 33. First month I lost about 6lbs so not the extreme weightloss those with a higher bmi seem to get. Before prices went up I had lost about 2.5st that was Feb till August

Brewde · 30/11/2025 20:04

I’ve just put in an order with boots. Fingers crossed.

How do they verify the weight you enter?

Shoot I was hoping for more than that. I could manage that if I was very strict with myself and gave up carbs for the month

You won't qualify OP you need to be obese.

How do the online pharmacies check the weight you have inputted?

They usually ask you to provide photos on the scale and in your underwear/tight fitting clothes. I won't engage with you further as it sounds as though you're going to lie or have lied about your weight to obtain the meds fraudulently.

No I will be 100% honest. For boots you need to take pics. But I just think those can be easily doctored. I think it’s unfair that an overweight person is automatically denied. Being overweight is very detrimental to health.

Many people who have reached a very low weight say they will be on them for life. Why are they allowed the drugs at that point?

Your BMI needs to be 30, or 27 if comorbidities like high blood pressure. What is your BMI?

Some pharmacies want photos (taken via their web app, not taken separately and then uploaded, so cannot be doctored), others will want a video consult on scales. All will write to your GP.

I am happily being prescribed Mounjaro at 25 BMI, but because I was over 30 when I started (e.g. provable history of obesity) I will be treated differently to someone trying to get it first time at under 30 BMI. Rightly or wrongly.

If your BMI is high enough to qualify, you may want to compare Boots pricing to others, see https://click.compare.

I've lost 1lb a week pretty consistently since I started, so 4lb in first month. I started at 32 BMI.

Bigwelshlamb · 30/11/2025 20:25

If you could lose it by ditching carbs then do so. These drugs are not designed for you and taking something you don't need because you cannot be arsed is crazy... They are not designed for the kind of weight you want to lose and are you going to stay on them forever so you don't have to think about it again. These drugs are excellent at what they do but you wouldn't fit the criteria for prescription of them. Theses drugs are not a lifestyle choice, they are medicine.

ResusciAnnie · 30/11/2025 20:26

4lb

BMI is 26. But it was much much higher at the beginning of the year. I think I may have even been morbidly obese. I have lost all steam with weight loss and I am still thirty pounds over where I feel comfortable

I have pcos so weight loss is slightly harder

They want medical history, immediate photos and measurements. They also legal have to notify your GP so it’s recorded on your NHS record - each prescription a copy is sent electronically to your GP.
they are strict. They don’t want to lose their licence or get fined and there are PLENTY of customers so it’s not worth the risk for them to bend any rules.

bignewprinz · 30/11/2025 20:31

I just Googled and hit the Voy website. For PCOS, you can be prescribed at 27 BMI: https://www.joinvoy.com/blog/mounjaro-and-pcos

Asda you have to take photos but can’t upload them you have to give access to your camera. Tightened up since when I first ordered. At lower weights I don’t think you see the big losses I think your hoping for

usedtobeaylis · 30/11/2025 21:22

A stone, but had a lot to lose. I've had a lot of plateaus and slow losses, the GLP-1s don't necessarily stop that.

RunSlowTalkFast · 30/11/2025 21:26

I lost barely anything the first month, it didn't really work much for me until the higher doses.
