Waiting to hear from interview - feeling deflated!

I had a job interview on Wednesday that I felt went really well, I left feeling super positive. They had more people to interview on Thursday and I was told I would hear back by the end of the week or early next week.

I didn’t hear anything yesterday (Friday) and I feel so deflated and I have convinced myself I haven’t got the job. It was my meal ticket out of a very toxic environment and my hope is dwindling.

has anyone heard back later than they were told and still got positive news? Or am I over thinking this? I just really felt like they’d of let me know Friday if I was successful.

Fair enough. I'm saying as a recruiter chasing early is a red flag for me. It's up to op if they want to take the chance though.

No! Don’t email til the Friday. Be cool like you’ve got another offer already - go and do something to take your mind off

This happened to me recently 2 weeks ago I went to a interview it was looking very positive told me would get a call back next. Day they didn't contact me so know I've been unsuccessful unfortunately like you I needed the job badly op but sadly wasn't meant to be good luck in your future interviews

Well I still haven’t heard back so assuming I didn’t get it. Had a big cry this morning as really hating my current job, but trying to keep on keeping on

'Early next week' doesn't have to mean Monday though, does it?

That’s very true, I do feel I am being negative but they were very quick prior to this so I have spiralled a bit and just written myself off.

I came away from a second interview where there was a very, very strong hint that I was going to get the role. I had to wait 10 days for a response. The hiring manager went on holiday for a week and asked the Talent Lead to make the offer, but he then ended up going off sick. I start next Monday.

Hold on OP 🙂 my company takes at least 2 weeks to get back to people and it winds me up as I am sure we lose good candidates due to the time lag. Fingers crossed for you 💐

I've spoken to the lead recruiter about the interviews we did last week. They're not even making a final decision until tomorrow so will probably be in touch with candidates on Wednesday. It's good to take time to reflect as a recruiter. It's not a definite thing until you hear either way. My latest job I was second place but the first one didn't work out. The right thing will come but it often takes time.

They should let you know ASAP,its not fair to keep people in limbo.
Fingers crossed for tomorrow.
I think sometimes if you come second they hold off saying anything until the first person has accepted or declined.
I have been offered a job before after first candidate didn't work out and I was number two on the list.
Anyway good luck and keep looking the right job for you will be out there even if its not this one.
