High serum ferritin?

I had some blood tests recently mainly to check hormone levels with the hope of trying testosterone. Anyway I can see in the NHS app that I have high serum ferritin (116, when range is up to 90) and they’ve queried if I’m on iron supplements (I’m not) and said more common for post menopausal women, which I’m not. I’ve made an appointment but having googled it seems this could be indicative of inflammation/infection or even cancer. Anyone had this and it turned out to be ok? I do remember that in a blood tests about 18 mths ago she commented that my iron was v high but I didn’t see the score and she didn’t seem bothered. Am I right to raise this?

any excess alcohol? That can cause high iron also.

It is only slightly raised, so nothing to be unduly concerned about. Still, no harm in asking for more blood tests to check for hemachromatosis (sp?) and other conditions which might raise your iron levels.

FYI my hematologist likes my Ferritin at 100, so to avoid going below that it’s above 150 for a good chunk of time. All I’m trying to say is that it’s not inherently dangerous

That isn't raised, 400 would be raised.

My Liver function tests were fine but I had had quite a heavy weekend!
