I bought an item on Vinted that I intended to give as a gift. The item was listed as brand new with tags.
When it arrived, it was sealed up, looked brand new and all seemed to be in order. It had one of those circle stickers on to seal it at the bottom (I don’t know how else to describe it, one of those circular sellotape things). I marked it as all okay and got on with it. It didn't occur to me that anything was wrong, because it looked brand new from the outside.
I went to wrap the gift today and on taking a much closer look, the sellotape had obviously been replaced. It was one piece stuck on top of another. I opened it up and lo and behold, the board game has been ripped and damaged. I can't gift it now, but I'm shit out of luck as I marked it as okay a couple of weeks ago, believing it was genuinely brand new.
I have now left a bad review and messaged to ask the seller if she would buy it back, as I feel this has obviously been done in bad faith. She's messaged a load of abuse back, basically saying it's my own fault for not noticing this before, but she had done it really, really well. It was put nearly exactly on top, I only noticed because it just happened to catch my eye as a bit oddly shaped.
It's only a fiver so in the grand scheme of things it doesn't matter, but why do people feel the need to do this? It's not like I can donate the game or anything now as it's ruined, so it's got to go in the bin. I'm gutted because the recipient would have loved it, too.
