Would you report this?

I’ve left my partner. Turns out he was living a double life.

I was told that he put his hands on another woman (I’m guessing the mum to his other children) who stayed over while I went to stay at my parents (told by the lodger who was staying in our spare room).

Over the past few months, my partner would put me in a headlock and throw me on the floor (usually kitchen concrete floor). Or he would cause me to trip over. Like a wrestle but I never liked it and usually playfully fought back. Our son is nearly 2 and he would run up and push him away - while my now ex found it entertaining, I never liked it. He is very very strong and so I didn’t want to fight back. It happened a few times, very randomly - usually after a natural silence.

Would you report this? How? I don’t know if the other woman has reported domestic abuse in the past. But I’m learning he isn’t a good man at all. This is a small incident but he is a serial cheat and almost feel I need to have it on record somewhere.

I’m waiting for Clare’s Law. I’ve requested his history. He does have a clean DBS. It’s been a few weeks so hoping I can get more info this way.

You've done the most important thing, which is to leave.
I think you should report it. Even if there isn't a prosecution, it'll be documented that you've experienced DV. This might be helpful if, for example, you want to limit his access to your DS and need evidence of his behaviour.

Report it. To protect yourself and anyone who uses Claires law in future
