To sue Superdrugs? Eyesbrow burns

Had waxing on my eyes brows on Tuesday; it was more painful than usual but I don’t think the wax was too hot; however after she finished she put some liquid which reallly stunk; I think she said it was tea tree oil or something like that. Basically she caused me some burns. What can I do? Will this go away?

I wonder if you're allergic to tea tree oil. They should ask before using it. Or.do you use tretinoin or anything on your skin? I do, so have my eyebrows threaded now as it is too sensitive to be waxed. Again, they should ask this before waxing.

Tea tree oil shouldn't cause irritation or burns if it's properly diluted. But it sounds as though she hasn't diluted it or hasn't diluted it sufficiently.

I would definitely make a complaint about this OP.

its a combination of wax was too hot and air was too cold outside. Plus she probably should've stretched better. it is fairly common unfortunately, but should heal on its own within about 2 weeks.

A complaint is a good idea, not sure what you think you could sue for though.

I do use tret but had not use it for a couple of weeks; and only use it twice per week

I was also going to ask about tret as the only time I reacted to eyebrow waxing was when I had been using it.

I see no problem with letting them know what happened, but I am not sure what you would sue them for? Pain and suffering?

It will be the tret, waxing isn’t recommended for 3-6 months after using vitamin A (can’t remember the exact time). I doubt you can sue but do let them know so the therapist can be trained to insure she gives a better consultation next time. It will heal quickly.

obliviate24 · 21/11/2025 20:41

Did you have a consultation where the therapist asked about medication, medical history, products used etc?

These things unfortunately can happen during treatments but your therapist (if the job was done properly) would know using certain products are a contraindication.

Id avoid the likes of Superdrug for any treatments in the future & go to a reputable salon.

YANBU to want to complain but I think YABU to sue, I hope you’re okay!

Pricelessadvice · 22/11/2025 06:57

What are you suing them for? Have you had to miss work because of it? Or general pain and suffering? I don’t think that small mark is going to constitute pain and suffering or emotional distress

I’d definitely complain though.

Sue them for what?
