DD has asked for a Christmas elf this year, she's 6 years old and her BFF has one so of course she wants one now. Should I do it and if so can people give me 25 days worth of things that the elf does? Does it just move around the house? I absolutely love Christmas but for some reason I really am not keen on the elf idea...yay or nay mumsnetters? You decide for me!

YABU - Just do it scrooge!
YANBU - don't do it!!!!!

Day 1 drop of advent calendar
day 2 leave note explaining he’s go on holiday to Thailand until the 24th as he’s got a busy day on the 25th and needs to rest up.

We have done the elves for while now, kids know it’s us doing it now but it’s a bit of fun. They don’t make a mess in our house, they occasionally bring treats (some Christmas sweets or colouring or something similar) and are just found playing board games, being in bed with the children, watching a movie etc.

Do it if you want to. Also a good thing to feel superior about if you don’t like it. Gives people the opportunity to release their inner snob! Just waiting for the Christmas Eve box, north poll breakfast and similar threads to start- they’re always fun.
