For expecting GP to examine child

Took my 7 year old to GP as I suspect he has rhinitis. He’s been ‘snorting’ for months! Has post nasal drip and just constantly aggravated by it. I had it as a child and husband has sinus issues. The GP didn’t even look at my son! He sat on the chair, she asked me symptoms googled steroid spray, prescribed it and sent us on our way. I’m not concerned as I am sure this is what it is but wouldn’t the GP at least check his glands, temp etc?! At least look at him?!

Did you say ‘do you need to examine him?’

I mean, your not wrong, but there’s not much point in mentioning on MN but not mentioning it to the dr you were sat in the room with.

I thought at the time do I say ‘erm please examine him?’ But I didn’t! Just wondered if it was weird they didn’t!

Has he been tested for allergies? Eg dust mites?

No and my husband is very allergic to dust mites so it wouldn’t surprise me. Will try the spray and see how we get on.

I was just more surprised a GP wouldn’t check a child physically if they saw them!
