FedUp120028 · 19/11/2025 18:09

I know it's not aibu more wwyd but I need traffic soooo

My holiday to lapland has been cancelled by tui.

Do I... rebook with Santa's Lapland and go to Lapland or do I go to Disneyland Paris and rebook Lapland for next year. We are going to Lapland UK. My children are 7 and 2. But worried 7yo won't believe next year.

Santas lapland is £1500 more. WWYD?

U - Lapland
NU - Disney

Go to Disneyland Paris while your younger one is still free to get in.

Hottchoc · 19/11/2025 18:11

Disney every time

ViolaChomp · 19/11/2025 18:13

Lapland is magical

Lapland is magical

Yeah this is where I'm torn.

I really want to go, just wondering whether it's best for us to go next year but I also don't know whether my 7yo will still believe. Equally the confusion between lluk and lapland.

Lapland!

Why did Tui cancel?

LannieDuck · 19/11/2025 18:20

Lapland is a brilliant experience. We did it with ours when they were 8 and 10. They were a bit old, but we still all had a great time - SO much snow, reindeer, sledging, huskie dogs etc. It was completely different to anything they'd done before.

HeNeedsRehab · 19/11/2025 18:22

Lapland is amazing but I wouldn’t take a 2 year old. I’d take a 3 and 8 year old though.

Lapland!

Why did Tui cancel?

Apparently they have overbooked the flight. I've been cancelled.

I am just thinking is it fate to go next year as my smallest is only 2 and my mum decided not to come with us even though I'd paid for her.

Thank you, this was my thought. I first booked it before baby came along then rebooted twice and now I just think it's fate to wait.

Go to Disney this year and if you can, book Lapland through Canterbury travel. We used Canterbury to visit Lapland in 2023 and it was perfect. I know of others that have used TUI but didn't have a good experience. Although if we were to go to Finland again I'd definitely try and book it all separately myself as it would be so much cheaper!

GFBurger · 19/11/2025 18:26

Lapland when your 2 year old is more likely to remember it. Even wait a couple of years. I think a 9 year old who is on the edge of believing would still love it!

Disneyland Paris was super enjoyable the weekend before Christmas and the poster who said they get in free is right! Use the opportunity.

Or Lapland UK if you can still get tickets. You need to get on the website everyday to maybe pick-up returned tickets.

neonleopard · 19/11/2025 18:26

We went to Lapland when ours were about 7 and 9 and they still talk about it 3 years later. It was good age as they got the most of the outdoor activities and weren’t too bothered about Santa anyway. We did Disneyland this year and they both loved it even though a bit older - being older meant they could do all the rides, and cope with the long days and lots of walking. That said, the cold in Lapland was COLD and we saw lots of miserable looking toddlers and a lot of faffing with gloves and outdoor gear, so you might enjoy it more in another year?!

thetallfairy · 19/11/2025 18:26

Disney

We are off there this Xmas

Heard it is even more magical at Xmas
Would love to hear how it goes !!!

Sorry they cancelled what a shame (didn't even know they can do this?)

Fluffyholeysocks · 19/11/2025 18:28

We did lapland with older kids, the really small ones struggled with the cold. We did a trip to see Santa in the Forest and several of the toddlers were in tears.

cheekysausage123 · 19/11/2025 18:31

Have read Lapland is hard work with small children in the cold… not been myself though.

LittleCutiePie74 · 19/11/2025 18:32

I have been to both and I would go to Lapland for sure.

I would then try to visit Disney in a couple of years when they are older.

Lapland is great. Not yet one ever done the father Christmas stuff but it is all easy to do yourself probably much cheaper than tours. Ryanair goes to Rovaniemi from various airports, father Christmas village thing in Rovaniemi is free to go in, just pay for what bits you want. Get an Airbnb. Job done. Or hop on a bus somewhere more remote for beautiful wilderness.

Mind you the thought of Disneyland makes me want to run screaming in the opposite direction.

Efteling is a good idea. It's just we have disney annual passes so cheaper for us to go there really as we already have tickets. But I will look in to it.

Agree that Efteling is amazing. My kids are young adults now, but much preferred it to Disney (even the Florida one). Definitely one to look into in the future.
This time, I'd personally go for Lapland, but I detest Disney Paris so I'm biased! I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time wherever you go.

i went to disney for xmas all be it a few years ago and being honest i hated it with a passion and have vowed never to go back to paris again. it was cold and wet couldnt get into any of the cafes. the parade was that full you couldnt see any of it.

Bunnycat101 · 20/11/2025 14:08

I went to Lapland and loved it so much we’ve booked again. However, I wouldn’t want to take a toddler. It really was bloody freezing and my 5 year old struggled compared to my 8 year old. You could just see for every activity she had less stamina and got colder quicker. In particular she really struggled on our husky ride due to the extra wind chill. After the ride we had a chance to stop in a hut for some hot chocolate and a break from the cold. The older one only needed a few minutes to recharge and was out to play with the husky puppies but my younger one and the other smaller kids needed a good 45 minutes to sit by the fire to regain their body heat.
