Dp and his hobby

For context, we live in a 5 bed but it’s not massive, we have 6 children so all rooms occupied and have to be as 3 of those children are disabled and cannot share rooms.

partner has a hobby collecting things. Can’t be too precise on here but think like ornamental, stuff to display.

i agreed he could have them on display on one wall of the room. It’s the focal point of the room. It’s the first thing people notice. I don’t care for them but it’s his home too so fine. He’s now in a wap because he wants another wall. I’ve said no. I feel like it’s taken up our living room as it is. All his friends have told him he’s lucky I let him have what he has and they can’t believe I allow it.
so I think I’m bloody reasonable. I’ve told him he can have one in our bedroom if he really wants, but that’s it.

so. Aibu to say absolutely not to more on display.

I wouldn’t have allowed it in the living room. (Hector the collect no thanks).
my dh has a variety of man sheds / garages/ workshops.
would that be an option?
doesn’t the view of his war hammer/ Lego get you feeling down?

It's your home too and if it's not a collection you enjoy then one wall is quite enough. I have lots of family ornaments that are really old fashioned and my DP doesn't like, for me they hold memories so I display them in a bedroom, I'm happy and he doesn't have to look at them all the time. Tell your DH he'll have to find somewhere else or stop collecting

Can you fit a shed in the garden? I’ve managed to shove most of dp’s shit treasures in there

My ex collected beer glasses with logos on. He put them out everywhere and kept buying more. They were on the tops of all the furniture, the mantlepiece, windowsills etc. I ended up telling him he had to condense his collection to just his favourites and pack the rest away as it felt like I was living in a pub just before the last orders bell rang.

No wonder he’s an ex 😂 Did you get people wandering in for a pint 😆

We have a garage but he wants to be able to enjoy them… so a shed isn’t really going to do that. Nowhere else for them to go, he doesn’t spend time in the garage either… I wouldn’t say looking at them gets me down, or bothers me as it is now, but I do know anymore and it will definitely bother me.

Well in that case, he’s got his one wall.
He can’t have another wall.
he will just have to rotate them and store the others in boxes in the garage.
He’d just take over the entire house if he could.
sure this a form of hoarding.
