"just circling back"

loftboarcing · 16/11/2025 11:42

I'm looking to get my loft boarded and contacted a company online last night.

They messaged at 8:45 Sunday morning asking if it was the right number and than two hours later "Just circling back to this to see if you're still looking to get a loft survey booked in for a quote?".

It's Sunday, there was 2 hours gap between the messages.

Aibu for being a bit annoyed

Dunno really

I can't say it's something that'd bother me.

If it bothers you, just leave it until Monday if that's what you'd prefer to do.

ComtesseDeSpair · 16/11/2025 11:49

The first message was clarifying that they had the right number, the second was following up your actual enquiry - sounds like decent customer service, possibly two different agents, one who logs contact received, another who does quotes and sales. Just reply asking them to call you at whatever convenient time you have next week.

Swiftie1878 · 16/11/2025 11:51

Well, you messaged on a Saturday night! 🤷🏼‍♀️

Lamonstera · 16/11/2025 11:52

It’s an annoying phrase, but I’d rather be contacted twice in short succession than ignored for days, which is my usual experience.

LilyGeorge · 16/11/2025 11:52

Given how difficult it can be to get a response from tradespeople I’d be thrilled at the quick reply.

I’m not quite sure why you are annoyed.

weisatted · 16/11/2025 11:52

I would be over the moon to get a response from a tradesman without several phone calls, emails and messages

It's an email form and that gets emailed to them.

I can't image responding two hours later, on a non work day saying "can I have a response".

Oh come on now, that sort of measured and sensible response is hardly in the spirit of Mumsnet, is it? Where’s your outraged ‘LTB’, ‘Name and shame them on social media!’ - that kind of thing?
😁

I think they’re just following your lead, and trying to sort out a visit before the end of the weekend when things get busy again.
If you don’t like it, don’t respond or use them.

Personally, I would appreciate their prompt response and get them booked in for a visit!

It may well be a working day for them, plenty of companies work weekends, it’s when people whose working week is Monday-Friday are more likely to be sitting down and planning their home improvements. They’re aware you possibly completed online forms for quotes with several businesses and are more likely to get business if they’re responsive than if they leave it and another company gets in touch with you first.

Fair 😁

OP should report them and have their CSCS cards immediately removed.

And then ruin their reputation on social media, by declaring that some of their builders have been known to use their client's toilets.

This is assuming she can stop shaking and crying long enough to do so.

They have my details so they could start with "thanks for the message. We are available Tuesday at 2.30pm if that suits? You call/text or email us.

100%..... Never thought about that

I’d be okay with that. I was once similarly pissed off when I was completing an online form for an insurance quote. They called me immediately before I’d even finished filling the form in!

You messaged them on Saturday night, and you are annoyed they got back to you promptly on Sunday?

They were following up, which is good. So what if it has only been 2 hours. Perhaps they thought you were keen to arrange given you messaged them on a ‘non working day’

I swear some people are never happy

I don't expect such weird messages "just checking I have the right number" and "circling back".

It's AI as you haven't booked a call yet.

It’s hardly weird. It’s not the words you expected but it’s really not that weird. The only weird thing here is that you managed to find a tradesperson who got back to you quickly. They are rare.

Tagyoureit · 16/11/2025 12:49

Bloody hell, you really sound like hard work.

You sent a request and some organised, self employed, running their own business fucker has had the complete audacity to actually respond to you!!

🙄🙄

How it it efficient to message a custoemr and say "is this this right number". All they needed to do was give me some times they are available

OP posts:
Tagyoureit · 16/11/2025 12:58

Nothing wrong with double checking something. If you dont want to respond to them because they've somehow upset your equilibrium, then don't.

But I, honestly, can't see what the fuss is about, good trade people are hard to find and someone chasing business on a sunday morning strikes me as organised and hard working. Someone moaning about that and the specific wording used, strikes me as hard work.

Because a heck of a lot of people put in the wrong phone number to contact forms. I double check for my work because I’ve lost count of the number of times people have missed off a digit or written it wrong etc.

this seems to have irrationally angered you so just choose someone else.

So you aren't going to spend your time waiting for people to get back to you. It's also auto generated
