@Daisysandviolets try not to worry, have a look at the symptoms here

I was the same, paranoid about it when I had roots removed from a broken tooth. I was told though that the pain with dry socket is indescribable so if you’re not taking any painkillers, you might be ok. Just avoid eating anything in the area for another few days.

I’ve had dry socket twice but I didn’t find it overwhelmingly painful, more achy. That said, I don’t seem to feel pain like most people, it’s more an awareness of pain that I feel.

I had to go and have it packed by the dentist several times.

The hole being white would make me think it’s a possibility.

No, unlikely. If you have it, you really know about it.

If you're not in agony then it's unlikely to be dry socket! It's normal to feel some degree of pain post-extraction though. Hope it settles down soon. The hole can appear white/cream looking as granulation tissue starts to form, as part of the normal healing process.

I’ve taken pain killers this morning as it’s feels more painful than yesterday but not sure if me obsessing over it is why.

The rule of thumb is that pain which is starting to lessen, even if gradually, is generally normal, whereas pain that comes on suddenly or starts to intensify is potentially cause for concern. Phone the dentist tomorrow if you're worried, or the emergency number sooner if it suddenly intensifies.

I’ve had dry socket - it started off like you describe and as time passed became unbearable. If you can see a white part then you’ve lost the clot. Several rounds of packing and antibiotics did nothing. What worked is putting coconut oil in the hole - it felt better very quickly after that and healed perfectly.

I could see white pretty much every time had an extraction (quite a few times) - it was never dry socket, it was granulation tissue. That said, if the pain is intensifying then that's generally a sign to get it checked out.

taken paracetamol this morning and pretty much pain free now so hoping it’s not!
