To be really worried after seeing this on my street?

I live in a new build estate and it’s a new road. The road only leads to houses on here, there’s only one road in and out. Theres also no footpaths or anything leading out, just the pavements on the road. So basically you can’t get anywhere but to houses on the road.

I got home earlier and noticed a man absolutely sprinting past my house from further up. It wasn’t like he’d gone for a jog or run. He was really really running fast, like he was running away from something. Never seen him before. The weather is awful and he only had t shirt, joggers, and a backpack.

I am alone with DD and just feel worried about it in case it was something suspicious

He could have been doing sprint training? I only wear a short sleeved top to run, even at this time of year as I get too hot otherwise.

Greggsit · 15/11/2025 23:21

If you didn't see anyone chasing him, then I'd assume he was out for a run.

Caraa197 · 15/11/2025 23:22

Ok, it’s possible. I have anxiety so think the worse. It just looked like a frantic run, like he had to get away

Maybe keen to get home due to the awful weather you mention. I wouldn’t worry about it.

CioCio · 15/11/2025 23:23

Fartlekking?

PInkyStarfish · 15/11/2025 23:24

Running to a shop before it shut?

Caraa197 · 15/11/2025 23:24

Possibly. Just looked a little strange. I suppose I just worry and I’m alone with young DD. We are very rural, not much around. You have to drive/get the bus to get to any shops or anything like that

A person could be calmly walking a dog and casing the joint you have no idea what people are up too , deliberately scaring yourself with no evidence is weird

Sure you could call the police every time you see someone but they would have to ask you to stop some time I guess

Mistressofnone · 15/11/2025 23:27

I saw a lot of men running through a shopping precinct recently, they didn’t seem linked. I realised they were trying to get to McDonalds before the breakfast cut-off.

sunkissedandwarm · 15/11/2025 23:29

It's odd but I wouldn't worry about it.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 15/11/2025 23:34

I wouldn’t worry about it. You can’t be that isolated if you are on a new build estate surely.

RedRec · 15/11/2025 23:39

I was thinking sprint training too. Especially as he was wearing the right gear.

Chinsupmeloves · 15/11/2025 23:57

You have neighbours, you're locked up inside, you have a phone. This man was running past not stood casing the joint? Do you also have cctv? Will all the other neighbours be thinking tje same? Please try to rationalise, assuming you're watching him so where has he gone? I'd be more worried about the balaclava clad groups that roam our neighborhoods than a random sprinter. If he was running away from something he will be long gone...

Lostuser · 16/11/2025 00:02

🤦🏻‍♀️

JudgeBread · 16/11/2025 00:05

He must've been running from a murderer, your only choice is to move immediately.

FancyCatSlave · 16/11/2025 00:09

People that are up to no good don’t generally draw attention to themselves.

😂

sunkissedandwarm · 16/11/2025 00:15

It might have been a hydration pack, not a back pack.

Endofyear · 16/11/2025 06:02

Possibly running home because he was busting for the loo? It's unlikely to be anything worrying, if you're generally anxious just make sure your home security is good and get a ring doorbell.
