Anyone else being battered by this storm?

We are barely in the yellow warning, but this is much worse than previous amber or red storms. I've seen at least 8 local houses on fb with their roof or gable ends gone and quite a few commercial warehouse type properties destroyed. Lots of trees down blocking roads and some flooding. It's still wild outside and has been since lunchtime!

Is this very localised and/or has the met office failed badly here??

I'm in a similar area to you OP and it was so much worse than forecast. Loads of trees down, garden objects flying everywhere. Including in our garden - out warning was just for rain so we didn't do our usual 'tie everything down '

Flooding here is S Wales

Yes! And we currently only have half a roof as loft extension underway! I'm lying awake listening to it flapping and hoping to while thing stays put till the morning. Forecast says should die down in next couple of hours 🤞

did your roof protection hold? I really hope so .

It did thank goodness, just really noisy and hair raising. Suprised it's not been that cold but I'm sure heating bills gonna be massive! Looking forward to next week and snow apparently 🤦‍♂️

Glittertwins · 15/11/2025 14:02

we’re much more inside the yellow zone than you but have had hardly any wind and not really that much rain since last night. Had quite a bit Thursday night and Friday daytime but didn’t hear a thing overnight and have been out with no sign of rain at all today.

oh thats good news.

I agree OP, we’re in the north west and it was horrendous- trees down all over the place, some hit power lines and houses. It was really frightening.

blankcanvas3 · 15/11/2025 16:34

I’m not far from you and we still don’t have any bloody power! We’ve had to come to my parents house! 😬

TheCheekySloth · 15/11/2025 19:31

We got a bit of rough wind and rain that was all.
I got my brully and went for a walk in it at 10.30 at night.
Loved it.

We live just the other side of the Wye and the devastation in Monmouth is heartbreaking. It's the worst flood ever experienced in the area, caused by the effect of the Monnow overflowing into the Wye and overwhelming it. The town was waist high in water at the bottom of the high street 😥

Mischance · 16/11/2025 22:01

Yup .... I am nearby and Monmouth is awash and my two neighbouring villages have rivers running through and a bridge has collapsed. It is the worst I have ever seen.
