Not really AIBU but mumsnetters please help me! DD just turned 6 last week and was given hundreds (exaggeration but it was loads) of presents. All she likes is crafting and drawing and so that's all anyone gave her - she now has mountains of the stuff! She doesn't really play with toys, isnt interested in barbies, my little pony or polly pockets. I got her some lovely little schleich horses for her birthday as she loves horses but hasn't really played with them. What on earth am I going to get her?!

I would love this, only we're in Scotland!

There is the V&A in Dundee if that's more durable. Not sure how child friendly this is or what else to do in Dundee.

It's good but probably 50% of it is free entry and we already visit there a lot. She would love the costume design in the London one!

An easle, a desk, an upgrade to her art materials, a pin board or pegboard to display her art, a travelling art set, a play rug for her room

Kids’ Echo Dot was a massive hit with mine.

What about a bubble tea kit?

mummabubs · 15/11/2025 16:05

We don't buy loads for our kids (maybe 10 gifts each) and our son has a late October birthday so we usually have the same dilemma of what to then buy for Christmas. Definitely things they 'need' like any new clothes to replace what they've grown out of, edible items (we made a hot choc kit for DS one year). I also love the idea of spending money on experiences - is there an experience that your DD would look forward to that you could box up - like a scratch card or reveal box for her to open or something?
