Headlice AGAIN!

We are only 10 weeks into the new school year and my poor DD (age 11) has headlice for the 3rd time.

We've had almost daily emails about checking your child’s hair as there is a case of them in their class. We check twice a week, always have done since she was in Reception (year 6 now).

She probably ends up bringing them home on average twice each half term. I know they are fresh infestations as I treat her appropriately each time she has any, plus the combing twice a week shows she’s clear. She wears her hair tied up to school and I braid it too and use hair spray and repellent lotion.

There is a particular group of mums who openly say they refuse to use chemicals on their kids / that they can’t / won’t comb them as they don’t stay still for long enough / don’t have time as they work full time etc etc

DD has even said there are twins in their year who are always scratching their heads and you can even see the lice crawling on their partings and foreheads.

Surely cases of persistent headlice such as the twins above falls into the neglect category?

AIBU to be thoroughly pissed off with the parents of the children who never check or treat their kids, who keep infesting the rest of the year group?!

Yes, it’s neglect.

Yes it’s neglect,

Speak to the school and if they refuse to deal with it tell them you will be reporting to SS.

Ongoing infestation causes anemia, hence the phrase “feeling lousy”.
