Red spots at top of sons mouth

Son has been not been feeling great for a week or so. Last Thursday he was sick once and had a temp, he had just had the flu spray so put it down to that. Then a few days later was sick once again. Then on Monday he started back with a temp and said he felt sick but luckily wasn’t. Tuesday he said it really hurt to swallow and had a fever, yesterday said his throat still hurt but he wanted to go to school, seemed to have a good day but came home with a temp. Sent him in this morning as he seemed ok but got sent home after being sick, he now has lots of red spots on the roof of his mouth. Any ideas what this could be? We have a gp appt booked for later but just curious if any one else’s little one has had the same?

A quick google of the symptoms sounds like he has strep throat or scarlet fever. First thing I thought of was hand, foot and mouth disease. I'd keep him off school for a while regardless of what the GP says.

My money is on strep

I agree it could be Scarlett fever, does he have a rough feeling (sandpaper like) rash anywhere?
Is he fully immunised? Spots in the mouth can sometimes be an early sign of measles but these are usually white (Koplik spots).
See a Dr/ urgent care for advice if you are worried

What type of spots? Can you take a picture? Could it be blood spots, in which case it could be low platelets? This can occasionally happen after flu vaccine.

Thanks for the advice. Took him to the drs and they said strep throat!
