My ILs keep pestering for it (Nan and Grandad and Aunty, separately) but I think he's too young. He's 4 in September.

Its not something we ever did as little kids only when we were older round at friends. I just don't see the point and the thought of him waking up without me upsets me. Other GCs do but they're older. THey're making me feel like I'm keeping them away from him or something

Ds1 is 3 and I don't think he would want to stay somewhere else. If he did, I would probably let him but only if I knew he would be perfectly comfortable.

i agree whole heartedly with comeoveneer.

yanbu if it doesn't feel right however consider the benefits for all of you.

i used to stay at my gp's every weekend and virtually lived there during the holidays even though my mum was a sahm. it was great and we had a very special relationship.

my 6 month old just had her first night over at gp's and went really well.

they want to have her stay as many fridays as possible and i'm really glad and thankful of that.

that said i do trust them implicitly and they do exactly as we wish when caring for her. they are also young only 52 so still have the energy and enthusiasm for it.

Could you go and stay over too? Then your rellies get to do the bathtime/storyreading/putting to bed bit, but you are still there for your ds if he wants you.
I have stayed a lot at both my parents and inlaws since my dd was tiny - such a good chance to lay in bed and have a peaceful cup of tea while Nannie reads endless stories and plays dolls teaparties.
Now dd is happy to stay overnight on her own (she is 5) but I'm sure she wouldn't have been if she hadn't stayed there lots with us as well first.
