Has anyone who suffered HG pregnancies, continued to have symptoms during their menstrual cycle?

Each month, usually the day before my period arrives, I am back in the trenches with nausea and vomiting. This usually lasts a day or two and then it’s gone until next month.

The GP can only recommend contraceptives to try to help hormone balances.

I am 4 years PP!!!! and so tired of this each month, I wondered if anyone else suffers?

I’m sure you’re all over this, but it’s not at all normal. Have you had infection or retained placental tissue ruled out?

This is interesting. I’ve had HG with all of my pregnancies, nothing happened between 1 and 2, but 2-4 were all back to back (babies about a year apart) and in the in between months I was very nauseous. I’m 4 months postpartum and get ill the two days before my period now too, but not nearly as bad (I was hospitalized for HG multiple times). I hadn’t considered there could be a link because I’d get pregnant again and obviously the HG would start in earnest.

Have you tried the contraceptives/did they help?

I had severe hyperemesis in pregnancy and the 2 days before my period I always get a migraine where the main symptom is nausea and vomiting (although I do get a headache/stiff neck as well).
There’s a strong link between people who get migraines also getting hyperemesis during pregnancy (and migraines are also often linked to the menstrual cycle). Unfortunately I find that the migraine medications that work for my ‘normal’ migraines don’t work for my hormonal ones.

I know it’s probably not very helpful because I haven’t actually found a solution! The best I’ve come up with is taking anti-emetics and pain killers for my hormonal migraines. The Mirena coil helped a bit but I still found that I got migraines just before my period should have been due (they were less severe though).
