Why are phones so bloody expensive?

My ideal phone would be a Google pixel 10 or 10 pro plus.
These are about 1,500 pounds to buy outright, more if you pay monthly.
Does anyone know anyone who affords this type of phone for themselves?

Are we being ripped off?
I expect its about the same with the new I phone too?

I've got a Motorola that's worth about £75 🤷 it does all the same stuff as expensive phones. The camera is shit, but my partner has a good one so I don't care. And there's no way I'm paying £50+ a month for the latest phone.

A google of the particular phone will tell you everything it offers.

Let me take a wild guess - could it be because the manufacturers (who are running businesses) want to make a lot of profit?
