To consider having a boob job?

I am in my sixties and my boobs are now literally on my waist.

Clothes look dreadful on me as no matter how many different bras I try there just isn't one that can cope with improving my shape/sagging breasts.

It really gets me down as today I was wearing jeans and a smart top and there was no gap between my waist and my boobs.

I am seriously thinking about surgery but I am scared and just wonder if anyone else would consider it.

I would be especially interested to hear from anyone who has had it done, what the results were and if it was worth it.

Please be kind, I have been through breast cancer and I know how fortunate I am

YABU you are in your sixties and being totally unrealistic.
YANBU life is too short to be miserable if you are in a position to do something about it.

Of course only you know how much money you have spare, if you have plenty then maybe. But if you’d be giving up a dream holiday or a bucket list activity I’d say to just buy a kick ass bra and go and experience your dreams.
I used to be quite pro surgery and Botox etc (had Botox etc myself) but I’ve done a bit of a 180. Life is so short, and your money could be spent on incredible memories.
After all, at our funerals no one is going to be saying ‘didn’t probablyshouldntsay have wonderful tits’ 😁
Also, and pardon me very much for mentioning, but it’s worth considering surgery and recovery for someone in their sixties could have more more serious complications than a younger candidate so please do consider that aspect.

OP, your title says boob job. That’s not what you’re asking. You’re asking about surgery to help with a real problem. Not give you Barbie boobs. Of course you’re not being unreasonable!

Sorry I meant Mastopexy not implants

Sorry when I said boob job I didn't mean implants, which I would never have, I meant a Mastopexy, I would like uplift and better symmetry.

I actually want to do this but my DH is totally against it - not because of the money. He is ASD and quite black and white about things. Has anyone managed to have surgery like this and not have anyone close to them notice?? 🙈

Speaking for myself, I didn’t have surgery because I cared about other people’s opinions. I cared about my opinion of myself and that’s the most important thing. Every time I looked I the mirror my nose bothered me. My nose job changed my daily life for the better. It had nothing to do with wanting compliments about my nose at my funeral 🤣

Actually, if i had really cared what other people thought I wouldn’t have had it done! My nose hasnt stopped me making memories either, but at least now I don’t shy away from the camera like I used to so actually my memories are now better 😊

good grief, life too short, you are only 60, not 102. You are just as entitled to feel good about yourself as anyone else.

We are so lucky to have procedures available, why not use them?

That said, research and don't go for a cheap option, and be realistic. "Surgeon that doesn't cost the earth overseas" will likely be a terrible idea.

I don't know you so I am not trying to be offensive. Be realistic about your body, it's great to have nicer boobs, but what about your belly? Do you need to exercise and firm that up, because it will become more obvious when your breast are back to firm (maybe you already have a 6 packs, good for you!)

find decent surgeon, and be clear about recovery, risks and so on.

Even if it was just Barbie surgery, of course nothing wrong with considering it.

I totally understand ☺️ I’ve got a hell of a nose on me too so I totally get the side angle fear! Also glad it’s made you very happy.
Funds have been a bit tighter for me so I couldn’t have have both travel aaaand the surgery - if I were a millionaire I suspect I’d have followed suit ☺️

I think you should go for it, if that's what you want. I see nothing wrong with cosmetic surgery at all, as long as people aren't going mad with it.

In some circs, you can have a boob lift without also getting implants, fyi.

If you can afford it and you think it will make a big difference to you - and it sounds like it will - then do it!

ETA: Duh, just read your other reply and seen that it's a lift you're thinking of.

Well, they might, if you have the surgery! 😂😂

Thanks for your advice 👍.
I am between a size 8 and a size 10 and whilst I don't have a flat stomach this issue doesn't concern me and I can dress appropriately so it isn't an issue.
However my boobs are next level, one is smaller than the other, they are both on my waist but one is lower than the other and no matter what bra I try they look, at best, matronly and very low hung.
I have had professional bra fitting at several different places but it is just so depressing as they are never able to help.
I have taken on board everyone's comments and it does help, thank you x

They are your boobs and you can do whatever you want with them. Give yourself full permission to make yourself happy!

DBD1975 · 09/11/2025 21:12

Also meant to say would never go overseas for a procedure.
I was recommended a very good plastic surgeon, by my oncologist, when I had surgery years ago and they are still practicing and are very eminent in their field, so I would only want to use them

I haven’t voted either way.

If you think you will be ok with scar tissue (because there will be no getting away from that fact), then go for it, but be realistic.

3 years down the line my scars are virtually invisible
