What do you do?

Being a bit nosey as wanting to retain positivity from the summer, when there are lots of things to do.
Currently have been taking Ddog for walks in woody places, using the slow cooker and taking Dd to chilly playgrounds, all feels a bit dull though!

how old is DD?

There are just as many things to do now - just have to go earlier because it gets dark earlier.

When little, it's so easy, you can take them everywhere: playgrounds, National Trust, Soft plays, swimming, cinema and all the garden centres will start soon to be all Christmas decorated.

It gets harder when they start having an opinion 😂
but then they have clubs, sports, events and parties non stop.

We go on nature walks even if it’s raining, bit of rain never hurt anyone and we all have coats, boots and umbrellas.

We also spend a lot of time indoors doing craft projects, jigsaws, watching movies, baking

I'm curious too as I'm finding it difficult with my 23 month old.

I'm currently doing lots of really short (30min max) activities - going to the play park, then inside playing with cars, then going in the garden, then inside reading books etc

But it's not exciting, and pulling waterproof trousers on and off 50 million times a day isn't fun...

I would love this, but my Dc is just so active, she gets bored with this quite easily

what club does she go to?

Between swimming, drama, gymnastic, football and the never-ending birthday parties, at that age, there wasn't much time at home at the weekend already

They also more or less outgrow most of the softplays, but trampoline parks are a great replacement, or climbing (anything indoors!)

Most little girls I know are absolutely nuts about horse riding too, but prices vary depending on what's available around you. (I don't know why girls more than boys, there's nothing not masculine about a horse, but that's what it is)

GRCP · 08/11/2025 20:32

Swimming, bowling, museums, cinema, trampoline park, library, bike ride

Netcurtainnelly · 08/11/2025 21:49

The weathers been good for November. Sunny this morning.
Cold now though.

Train and bus rides. I've loved public transport since childhood (so much that I've never wanted to learn to drive). I'm sure today's children would be entertained by the mechanics of the operation, and by the passing scene, whether town, country or suburb.

My child is 4. We’ve had a couple of recent weekends of pumpkin picking and fireworks. This weekend he has a friend’s birthday party. We’re really looking forward to Christmas 🎄 🎅🏻

Through the rest of winter we get out as much as possible and cherish the crisp dry days when we get them. There’s always swimming and soft play for the really dire weather days. The pool we go to is heated and it’s a proper treat going on a miserable rainy day.

At home I’ve stocked up on autumn and winter themed crafts and replenished the playdoh and we’ll do more baking than usual. We made lots of our own Halloween decorations so those will come down tomorrow probably and we’ll start making winter/Christmas ones next month. His favourite thing to do at home is build huge train tracks that weave all around the house. When we’re out and about we’ve swapped our summer picnics for a lot of café-hopping for hot chocolates.

Mine love a wee garden centre trip with a hot chocolate.
