Is this a performance review

New starter of two/three months has emailed everyone an email along the lines of "great being part of the team and here's where I need training".

It was the whole team..... I don't interact with her whatsoever.

Is she being performanced managed or potential to be?

Or am I over thinking?

Which is fine but why upskil at 2 months in a new job?

Which again I don't have a problem with, but I've had to do some work for her recently as well and checked it, it's not correct

Then it seems like you do have something to offer her. She's only been there 2-3 months, she's obviously still learning.

You are all right though

I agree with you that it is a weird thing to do, and not something I have come across before. But everyone has a different approach I guess.

As a manager I wouldn't be super happy about it. If i have a new joiner then it's my job to decide (with them) where they are at and what skills or training they should be focusing on in order to perform their day to day job. Once they are established in the role it's different and they own their development plan.

Depending on the type of training she is asking for, I also would be unhappy for a member of my team to spend significant amounts of time training someone on a system or tool they don't need. It's different of she is just trying to understand what others are doing though, and how it fits with her responsibilities.

Ultimately I think the best approach is to mention the email to your manager, and ask whether they want you to support with any aspect of the training.

I agree with this, but it doesn't happen that way in all jobs.

It's simple form filling.... Shouldn't really need to redo this work. It's also been told it's been in hand for three weeks but isn't

Thanks.

So the email was so long and a lot of effort went into it.

Which is fine, but it was directed to everyone. She didn't @ me for anything so I don't know how I supposed to respond. Also everyone but me answer to a different line manager. So I'm not sure how to respond.

The few times I've shown her something she just doesn't understand it. It's very basic - eg there are two ways to enter the database and it will depend if you need X or Y. This is very basic for the job (I can't be specific).

Her work is also not great, not completing anything and I've had to redo a lot of it last weekend for a deAdline.

I feel she uses a lot of the managers time already and I feel she's got a memory issue as everything is written down, not held and work doesn't seem to be done.

Taking notes is essential IMO. If I'm explaining something to someone who isn't taking notes I know it's not going to come back correct.

Yes I don't mind showing someone a few times to do something basic. Notes are also good. But when someone is constantly taking notes and it's still not being done right.

Apologies if this has been said, I haven't RTFT.

I would say she's had a probation review with the Manager and they've told her what she needs to work on. Instead of speaking to specific people, she's done a mass email hoping for volunteers or so she can say she did ask for help but didn't get it.
