To think GPs often close ranks or cover for each other?

I’ve noticed that when there’s a clear mistake or complaint about a GP, the response from the practice or other doctors can be very defensive. Instead of accountability, it often feels like damage control. I know it’s a tough job and there’s pressure to protect colleagues but AIBU to think there’s a bit of a culture of covering things up in primary care?

I don’t think that’s just in primary care to be honest, it’s across the board for lots of medical settings. Especially because the threshold for medical negligence hinges on the test- whether another professional would have done the same, lots of reason really to protect each other.

Yes a GP receptionist told me ‘you’ll never get that removed’ the diabetic nurse recorded I was taking oral medication whilst in remission.
I was like you watch me love.

my medical record updated in hours.

6 months on I cannot be told if I have an ulcer, ludicrous

  • send me to someone who knows.

A diabetes nurse who gave 8 minutes of her time if that, I presumed to get the record correct before learning all diabetes nurses do is copy an old entry and write over it. Scum from another mister.
