Times the BBC has enraged me this month

  1. Covertly filming those policemen in London. I bet the people who live and work in the charing cross area were delighted that there were suddenly 11 fewer policemen in that station because the bbc had got them all the sack! Thanks bbc! 2. Their brave hard hitting expose of vape shops and dodgy barbers, 10/15 years after everyone else knew about them! 3. Fawning over some div from the prison service this morning defending their rank incompetence over releasing prisoners early. Apparently they need special software to work out 40% of the sentence. They have to do it manually with 'pen and paper', the poor dears! Er, don't you mean a calculator? If you dont know how to use a calculator you could type it into google, 'what is 40% of this amount of time?' Not only that, there's a whole department of people apparently whose sole job is working this out and they still manage to get it wrong, dozens if not hundreds of times a year! Bbc presenters totally on his side as he tried to make out it wasn't their fault!

Yes!

sucker for punishment then.

if BBC angers you so terribly, don’t pay for their service

Yes but then they turn up at your door demanding it.

38thparallel · 06/11/2025 09:34

I’m still shocked that the BBC authorised forging bank statements and deception, causing untold damage to Diana and her family yet Martin Bashir and other complicit in this have gone unpunished.
When Tory MPs break the law or act unethically, the BBC is the first to trumpet their disapproval.

randomchap · 06/11/2025 09:38

Maybe if those policemen didn't want to be sacked then they shouldn't have behaved so badly.

Would you prefer them not to do investigative journalism?

And how no one seems to really care. This is the national broadcaster.

I am forced to pay a tax to keep it going (even if I only watch live shows on Amazon)

They should be holding standards.

rachelhere · 06/11/2025 09:55

'Investigative journalism'? Yeah give it another 20 years so they don't have to go out on too much of a limb and there'll be a brave hard-hitting expose of how bears shit in the woods

Cornycake · 06/11/2025 10:24

Why do you pay for their service op?

seems very odd when you don’t respect it, to be lining its pockets

TofuEater · 06/11/2025 10:26

I literally work about 300 yards from Charing Cross police station. I occasionally have to call the police to report hate crimes. I certainly don't want these investigated by policemen who think immigrants should be shot. There should be no place for racism in public life

ZippyPeer · 06/11/2025 10:38

Id rather have no policemen than be paying bad policemen. Police have too much power to have nasty racists in the job.

I want the BBC to do investigative journalism, it helps keep society safe.

Also the Diana thing from a PP, that was like nearly 30 years ago, might be time to move on?

rachelhere · 06/11/2025 10:39

Just occasionally? Bet they love you on the phone all the time. Any real crimes? 🤣

They dont very often
And you have no obligation to even open the door to them.

Nigellastwinklylights · 06/11/2025 10:48

Oh, goody. It’s the daily beeb bashing thread. 🥱

bostonchamps · 06/11/2025 10:56

OP are you one of the 11 racists and misogynistic ex-police officers who were sacked (one of them for accusing a rape victim of making her assault up)?

rachelhere · 06/11/2025 11:07

Nah all coppers are bastards. But even so.

From the Met's own website

"Verbal abuse, threats or name-calling can be a common and extremely unpleasant experience for minority groups.
Victims of verbal abuse are often unclear whether an offence has been committed or believe there is little they can do. However, there are laws in place to protect you from verbal abuse.
If you’ve been the victim of verbal abuse, talk to the police or one of our partner organisations about what has happened. You’ll find a list of them on our How to report hate crime page.
Even if you don’t know who verbally abused you, the information could still help us to improve how we police the area where the abuse took place."

So you think the police should be able to pick and choose what crimes they investigate?

I don't even know what that means. I do know that you think racist abuse is acceptable though

rachelhere · 06/11/2025 11:20

Do you, aye?

OP posts:
rachelhere · 06/11/2025 11:22

What's racist today? Today, criticising the BBC apparently makes you a huge fan of racist abuse! 🤣

The truth about the Martin Bashir affair only came out a few years ago and although there was conclusive proof of the forgeries and deceptions he carried out, neither he nor anyone else involved has been punished. Do you think all historic crimes should be ignored as it’s time to move on?

No you are beig racist because you think a hate crime isn't a real crime

rachelhere · 06/11/2025 11:55

For god's sake
